Monday Madness - Mental Health

Maybe I'm a little late to the party, but today I just found out some rather disturbing news. How many of you have heard of or are aware of the Project Semicolon?

Project Semicolon

Project Semicolon was founded in 2013 by Amy Bleue in honor of her own mental health and 10 years after the passing of her father by suicide.

The project is wide spread and symbolized by the semi-colon. *"Your story is not over" *

The movement started with a semi-colon reminding those that the writer of their story did not end with a period. They are merely at a pause and will be moving forward. Their story is not over. Hundreds of thousands of people would draw temporary semicolons on their wrists and display on social media as a reminder to all. Quickly permanent tattoos became very popular and also vastly shared on social media.

It is a movement turned non profit organization and a cause I hold very near and dear to my heart.

Disheartening News

Scrolling through Facebook today, I stumbled across this ad:

Amy Bleuel has passed, again, I am late to the party and this occured a while back.

It saddens me. She inspired so many and started a movement that will continue to save so many more. It is things like this I wish that I could understand. I don't for a second believe that I will ever understand, however, it still long for understanding.

It is so sad to have lost such an inspiration.

It is so sad that her own inspiration could not inspire her own thoughts.

It is so sad to wonder how teens that looked to her and the movement for support will now view it.

It is sad to fear for the future of mental health.
