RE: DILEMMA...UNCERTAINTY...DOUBTS?

in #mindset5 years ago

Hellooo there @jeoleena!

Do you take people’s concern as priority, or yours?

Well, remember that many if not all (I'm not a psychologist) the problems we have internally originate from our upbringing, in the way we were raised.

How can we not put others before us, when as children we are taught: behave well, bathe, dress properly, do not cry! What will others say about you?

Then the opinion of others is above your own.

Do you prioritize your heart (emotions) than your mind?

I try to put the reason on the decisions, but many times the emotions overcome, imagine that you are 2 hours in a queue and a person arrives to sneak a few posts more in front of you, obviously the reason is not going to impose; anger and fury appear and causes you to kill the person who does it. Or at least, mentally you think the person's gonna get hit by a truck or a bus.

Do you admit the truth to yourself?

The problem with truth is that you decide to create your own truth and we become blind to false expectations and live in our own bubble.

Dilemmas!

Tell me! Would you kill one person to save five? The dilemma where you drive a train whose way is to run over 5 people (usually children) but you have the option to change the route, but this new route the train will run over a good friend of yours. Choose.

I didn't invent this, it's a mental experiment initiated and devised by the British philosopher Philippa Foot

Thanks @jadams2k18 for this intriguing reply..

To be honest, the intensity of your answers left me startled and speechless..

Especially, I loved the last part of it..
If I had to choose between the 5 children and 5 of my close friends................
haven't really thought about that but, If I really had to......with no other option....then may be.., I would save neither...

thanks

There's no right answer. It all depends on a number of factors and conditions. Obviously, you can't stop doing anything, since the very fact of doing nothing would also kill people and obviously it is an option you would take.

Most people save all five people.

Another person, Judith Jarvis Thomson, decided to change the dilemma and got different answers. In this one, there is a train that is going to kill 5 people, but the difference is that you don't drive the train. The only way for you to save the 5 people is to push a fat guy who will fall on the track and derail the train. Obviously, you will be killing one person.

In this experiment most didn't dare push the fat one.

Will you?

Cheers

As you said earlier there's no right answer.. i think there's no right option shortlisted in the question too.. :)

Why would he (Judith Jarvis Thomson) give only one option where there could be altleast one alternative more to it..? Can't we just save those 5 by sliding a big stone, instead of a fat guy, infront of the train or by something else.. :)
