This huge buy is just going to let WMT compete with Amazon in the long run at the expense of lower revenues in the coming quarter. It is now adapting to mimic Amazon's aggressive acquisition strategy and this will benefit WMT in the long run as it did Amazon. Maybe more importantly, it keeps Amazon from buying Flipkart which is still more widely adopted than Amazon in India.
