Stay on Steemit and post!

How do you get to stand out? I see post after post earning nothing and then others making thousands from posts about drawing or cooking or some bizarre story. Whats the deal.? How do you start without wasting your time?

The posts making thousands tend to be sponsored artists, professional bloggers who brought a following with them, cryptocurrency celebrities or the occasional lucky or brilliant post from one of us minnows. For an example of what to expect as a minnow, take a look at @sarahjordan's blog. You can see that she had an early post earn over $600, but has had erratic results in spite of experimenting and posting frequently. I have yet to make $2 on a post, but then I am a very amateur blogger and just figuring it all out and haven't posted much. A smart way to develop a following on Steemit is to spend as much time reading and really commenting well on others posts as you do writing your own. Having a following doesn't mean your articles will be upvoted more, but it does mean more people are likely to see it and to remember who you are and care enough to read and upvote if it's the kind of thing they like. Have patience, embrace Steemit as a social network, choose topics that solve other people's problems, entertain or make you more real to others. Steem on!

Mostly in construction, which doesn't help. I can cook!

I just went through your posts and you are a prime example of "putting loads of effort and getting very little in return" would you not agree.

Post how you are coping with being a stay at home dad. Do a blog or vlog and try and get revenue through advertising like my favorite poster on youtube, Philip Defranco. He used to depend on YouTube advertising, but then he branched out and is now a mini media mogul. Hope you can do what hedid, but like I said, the best way to do it is to start your own blog or vlog. Good luck!

Cheers. Good solid advice. I'll keep you posted.

Be here, stay positive, understsnd the concept, you will definitely achieve your target

Do you think steemit is worth the time and effort needed?

#projectnewbie is looking for curators. It would be pocket change, but every little bit counts. If you want to try it out without making any commitment, look through the #introduceyourself and other places where people might have made their first official introductory post. It has to be between 30mins and 30hrs old and it has to have verification such as someone holding a piece of paper with their name and Steemit and the date etc. You copy the link and paste it into the projectnewbie chat channel, if it isn't there yet. The first person to add each new post is awarded a finders fee at the end of the week. Because this is calculated as a percentage of total rewards, it will vary. Anyone can do this.

If you think you'd like to really get involved and post as #projectnewbie etc, reply here and I'll connect you with @acidyo. Or you can private message him on chat.

Welcome to Steemit @youcan! I see this is your second post. I think it does make sense to get your Steemit sea-legs before officially introducing yourself which you don't have to do but often gets more attention to the rest of your posts. Let me know if you have any questions. :)

Cheers. I'll look into all of that.

Congratulations @youcan! You received a personal award!
