PROCRASTINATION IS A DISEASE, (Ways we can overcome procrastination)

in #motivation7 years ago (edited)

Procrastination is the act of delaying or postponing something. Most people today are guilty of this dangerous, time-threatening act. Those who have to work round the clock daily understands the feeling when the workload is just too burdensome. As a result of tiredness and weirdness, they often tend to give in to procrastination. Consequently it becomes difficult to achieve the desired or set results, which leads to frustration and sadness. The overwhelming effect in our society today is evidently brutal. What I'm saying in essence that procrastination can lead to a very bad end. Why not clear things as they come? Though I understand that the time is always limited but proper planning would help reduce procrastination.

Procrastination is like masturbation. It feels good at first but in the end you are only screwing yourself.

Ways we can overcome procrastination

1. START YOUR DAY WITH THE HARDEST TASK: Whenever you wake up there is this feeling of refreshment you have in the morning and all the previous day's pain taken by rest. On a new day, you definitely have many things to do. That is the more reason I said earlier that to plan is very important in overcoming procrastination. When you plan you know what you have ahead. Picking out the most difficult task ahead of you is a good way to achieve much because when your brain is still active in the morning you tend to solve problems and issues better and faster. But in the afternoon fatigue must have taken over coupled with lots of noise here and there and this would only allow you shift your work until next time.

2 MAKE YOUR INTENTIONS PUBLIC (be accountable to someone):

When you are a boss of your own or work at your comfort, procrastination drives you because you answer to no one and feel it is cool to leave some tasks for next time. Try to get someone who you would share what you are working on with. By so doing, you'll feel indebted to someone and see the need to get things done immediately. I understand some of us live a private life but to some extent we all have someone we can count on. It's also important to make sure that person is someone who is supportive and handles issues with all seriousness. What matters most here is the more accountable you are to someone, the more it would help reduce or eradicate procrastination.

3 BREAK YOUR GOALS INTO SMALL PIECES:

The bigger your goal, the more the changes you want to make over time. This can be frustrating at times. When you don't know how to handle or tackle a goal, you may end up putting the whole project aside. Why not break this goal into smaller pieces and solve them bit by bit. This way you would be able to get to the root of the matter and achieve your goal with less stress and in no time.

My advice is to you all is never do tomorrow what you can do today, Procrastination is the thief of time.

Yes. Better now, do it now!

Wow! This is great! Yes i will like to add more salt to this! Some people dont know that they are their own worst enemy! Don't put water in your own boat, the storm of life will put enough in on their own. Here is the first rule of winning: don't beat yourself. There are two forces warring against each other inside us. One says, “You can't" the other says, “You can!" Don't procrastinate! Stop procrastinating! You can do more than you think! Be encouraged by this fact found in the book of Mathew, “With God all things are possible." The sweetest part i loved of this post is the first way of overcoming procrastination, “START YOUR DAY WITH THE HARDEST TASK" we need to know that all we need to be great is right inside of you!Stop looking outside you and start developing your skills and interlect! Determine to multiple your commitment, divide your distractions, substract your excuses and add your faith, you will see positive results! The first key victory you must win is over yourself from excuses which leads to procrastination! Thank you @EURONATION for motivating us all!

Well said👍

Thanks my friend

I love this: "The first key victory you must win is over yourself from excuses which leads to procrastination!"

Very well said. I especially love the 3rd point.. "BREAK YOUR GOALS INTO SMALL PIECES"
Most of us carry many big dreams but lack the ability to break them to small pieces in order to achieve them. Little wonder there are many dreams/goals that go unachieved.
Thanks @euronation for the tips.
