Mid-Afternoon Thoughts: Clear the clutter from your lifesteemCreated with Sketch.

in #motivation7 years ago

I had the opportunity to achieve a long term dream of mine last night and applied to DENTAL SCHOOL! I still can't believe that I took that next step in my career, and more importantly I look forward to investing more time vloging and engaging with the community!

Clear Space, Clear Mind

I woke up today expecting to be productive af, but found myself more distracted than usual. I looked around my room and I instantly felt a surge of anxiety because I was surrounded by so much stuff. I felt like I was so focused on achieving my dream, that I lost any type of regulation for how I was living. I immediately knew I had to dedicate a day to clearing out all of this negative energy in my space if I was going to achieve any sort of balance.

I always say that life is simple, but simple is never easy and this situation was no different. When I went to throw away a bib number that I wore when I was still running, I got blitzed with a ton of great memories and couldn't bring myself to throw it away. About an hour passed and I only managed to throw away like 5 things, which made me realize how attached I was to my belongings.

I realized that It's not the object thats important, but the memories that are meaningful. I knew I needed to separate the two if I was going to obtain that balance, so I went to the bib I was looking at in the beginning and threw it away without realizing. I have to say it was the best feeling I've had in a while and I used it as a catalyst to throw away about a third of what was in my room.

There were still a few objects I couldn't part with yet, but it was a great first step into the world of minimalism. Even while writing this post, I found that my thoughts are so much more fluid and I feel like everything is right in the world. Well maybe not everything, but you get what I mean haha.

I hope you enjoy the vlog below and don't forget to Follow, Upvote, and Resteem if you liked this post!

Hi @waphilip, I really enjoyed your video! I've gone through multiple purges like the one you describe having yourself recently. It's always such a good feeling once it's done, but it can be a hard exercise. There's always the question, "Am I going to regret giving this thing up someday?" Luckily, I've found that I very rarely regret it.

Hey thanks for watching!

That's good to hear because I was def feeling some type of way when I starting throwing things away haha
