Movie List Wednesday - #1 - Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2018
Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2018
NOTE: This is my personal list, so don't get mad if you don't see your pick in MY list. If you think that movie, actor or anything that my list consists of deserves to be in the list feel free to leave a comment down below. Thanks!
Honorable Mentions:
Tomb Raider, Aquaman, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Ant Man and The Wasp, Pacific Rim Uprising, Solo: A Star Wars Story, X-Men: The Dark Phoenix, Sicario 2: Soldado, M:I 6 - Mission Impossible.
#10 Creed 2
PLOT: Adonis Creed tries to seek revenge when he goes toe to toe with the man who killed his father.
Director: Steven Caple Jr.
Screenwriters: Cheo Hodari Coker (screenplay), Ryan Coogler (characters)
Stars: Tessa Thompson, Sylvester Stallone, Michael B. Jordan
I really like what the crew is doing with this new Creed franchise. It is good that they are connecting it with the previous Rocky movies with Adonis revenging his father s death. This movie has a lot character potential with all the great actors.
#9 Black Panther
PLOT: T'Challa, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king.
Director: Ryan Coogler
Sreenwriters: Ryan Coogler, Joe Robert Cole
Stars: Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o
The movie has a great cyber punk look and the design of the whole Wakanda looks quite interseting. The fight scenes looks very promising the cast is great (Lupita Nyong'o, Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Forest Whitaker). I think that Eric Killmonger might just be the next great MCU villain after the Loki. I like the whole idea of Wakanda being isolated from rest of the world and using its resources for their own good because it's relevant to todays Africa if their was no explotation from western countries.
#8 A Quiet Place
PLOT: A family lives an isolated existence in utter silence, for fear of an unknown threat that follows and attacks at any sound.
Director: John Krasinski
Screenwriters: Bryan Woods, Scott Beck
Stars: Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Noah Jupe
A plot alone got me interesting in this John Krasinski directed horror-thriller movie. A couple (John Krasinski and Emily Blunt) and their two kid live together in a cabin in a place where any noise wakes some huge creatures that attack them. It is not known are they in some post apocalyptic world or the world like that but that is one scary world (I could not shout myself up). The trailer is really terrifying and I can't wait to experience the chills in front of the big screen.
#7 The New Mutants
PLOT: Five young mutants, just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will, fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.
Director: Josh Boone
Screenwriters: Josh Boone, Chris Claremont
Stars: Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Maisie Williams
As big fan of X-Men (I now that Dark Phoenix is in honorable metions but I don't have faith in that movie) I am really exited for New Mutants. Not only because of that but because seeing the trailer it seems Fox is trying again something new, like they did with Logan. New trilogy horror spin on X-Men looks interestingly disturbing with all new heroes with crazy scary superpowers. I am curious how it will be incorporated in the X-Men continuity. The story will be adaptation of "The Demon Bear" and it will probably be focused on Mirage (Blu Hunt) the mentally unstable psychic powered mutant that will rewake her traumas turning against her companyons.
#6 A Wrinkle In Time
PLOT: After the disappearance of her scientist father, three peculiar beings send Meg, her brother, and her friend to space in order to find him.
Director: Ava DuVernay
Scrrenwriters: Jennifer Lee, Madeleine L'Engle (based upon the novel by)
Stars: Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Gugu Mbatha-Raw
Sometimes when I watch trailer I immediately know the movie is going to be good, it must be good with Oprah in it. I like the whole colourful weird fantasy look of the movie. Chris Pine just form the trailer looks Oscar promising. The basic plot of the movie resolves around Meg Murry, her little brother, Charles Wallace, and their friend Calvin O’Keefe journeying through space and time to rescue Meg and Chris's father from a seriously disturbed planet, and fight a horrifying evil entity that is attempting to swallow the entire universe. I can't wait see it.
#5 Venom
This plot is unknown.
Director: Ruben Fleischer
Screenwriters: Kelly Marcel, Todd McFarlane
Stars: Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate
Tom Hardy is there anything more to say about the movie than that. That guy does not choose just any movie if he doesn't think it has potential. There is great need to fix the damage that was done to Venom in Spider Man 3. Venom has such a great potential to be one of the best antiheroes characters taken on the silver screen.
#4 Untitled Deadpool Sequel
PLOT: After surviving a near fatal knee boarding accident , a disfigured guidance counselor (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Poughkeepsie's most celebrated French Bulldog breeder while also learning to cope with an open relationship. Wade must battle ninjas, tight assed metal men, and babysit a group stereotypical side characters as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and creative outlets for his very open-minded sex life.
Director: David Leitch
Screenwriters: Rob Liefeld, Fabian Nicieza
Stars: Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, Morena Baccarin
Yeah Deadpool! After seeing the greatness and hilariousness of the first Deadpool movie I couldn't wait to see more from The Merc with the Mouth. The trailer is amazing the marketing looks promising. Only thing that is bothering me is the change of directors but I strongly believe that the movie will just another sequel rather the build up on Deadpool saga. Deadpool made promise to bring Cable in the second movie and he brought him all along with great supporting cast and the new character Domino, the luckiest mutatnt in the world, I hope she will bring luck to his movie too.
#3 Incredibles 2
PLOT: Bob Parr (Mr. Incredible) is left to care for Jack-Jack while Helen (Elastigirl) is out saving the world.
Director: Brad Bird
Screenwriter: Brad Bird
Stars: Samuel L. Jackson, Holly Hunter, Catherine Keener
14 years later we are finally getting the long awaited sequel for the Incredibles, the best "Fantastic Four" movie. There is not much thing known about the whole plot of the movie but we surely know that Jack-Jack will be developing his abilities and it looks like he could be the most powerful member of the Incredibles family and the key to defeating the next great villain. I am 100% sure that this movie is not going to let down all the fans.
#2 Ready Player One
PLOT: When the creator of a virtual reality world called the OASIS dies, he releases a video in which he challenges all OASIS users to find his Easter Egg, which will give the finder his fortune. Wade Watts finds the first clue and starts a race for the Egg.
Director: Steven Spielberg
Screenwriters: Zak Penn, Ernest Cline
Stars: Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Hannah John-Kamen
The geekest movie of the geek movies, Ready Player One is jammed with the pop culture geeky references that it looks like the whole movie is going to explode. Directed by the great Steven Spielberg it looks like it's going to be on hell of a great coming of age retro adventure movie. The movie, I think, will at least get Oscar for the Visual effects beacuse it is the one of the best looking movies (trailers) I have ever seen and definitely best from this list (sorry A Wrinkle In Time).
#1 Avengers: Infinity War
PLOT: The Avengers and their allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.
Directors: Anthony Russo, Joe Russo
Screenwriters: Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely
Stars: Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johanson, Mark Ruffalo and many many more
The no brainer for me for the first place on the list is the culmination of the last 10 MCU years. I cant't wait to see how will the biggest superhero rooster ever manage to cope with the long awaited threat, Thanos. I can't say much trailer looks god, we are going to see a lot of fight scenes, great characters and oh my God i can't wait for May 3rd.
