Yesterday I managed to watch Pearl and although it is not a movie for everyone, it has a scene that simply makes the whole movie worthwhile from head to toe, and I started to think: what other movies have a scene that makes a movie completely worthwhile? Without a doubt there are mythical scenes and moments within all cinema, whether it's because of a phrase, a framing or the context, sometimes it provokes to re-watch a movie just for a small scene. Today, I'm going to recommend 3 movies that are worth watching for a specific scene.

Ayer logré ver Pearl y aunque no es una película para todo el mundo, tiene una escena que simplemente hace valer la pena toda la película de pies a cabeza, y empecé a pensar: ¿qué otras películas tienen una escena que hace valer una película por completo? Sin duda hay escenas y momentos míticos dentro de todo el cine, ya sea por una frase, un encuadre o por el contexto, a veces provoca volver a ver una película solamente por una pequeña escena. Hoy, les voy a recomendar 3 películas que valen la pena por una escena en específico.

-Never Rarely Sometimes Always: a film that went unnoticed, is about a young woman's unwanted pregnancy and her quest for an abortion. With this premise, most directors would go for the visceral to create a film that calls for morbidity and sadness to show an anti-abortion message or a pro-abortion message, placing it on either end of the line, however, director Eliza Hittman directs this film in a sublime way to show not a morbid or political message, but a reality that many women suffer. Undoubtedly, a film that is strong and difficult to watch, but not because of morbidity, but because at times it even feels like a reality.

-Never Rarely Sometimes Always: una película que pasó desapercibida sobre el embarazo no deseado de una joven y su búsqueda de un aborto. Con esta premisa, la mayoría de los directores se irían por lo visceral para crear una película que llama al morbo y a la tristeza para mostrar un mensaje anti abortista o un mensaje pro aborto, situándose en alguno de los dos extremos de la línea, sin embargo, la directora Eliza Hittman dirige esta película de una forma sublime para mostrar no un morbo ni un mensaje político, sino una realidad que sufren muchas mujeres. Sin duda, una película que es fuerte y difícil de ver, pero no por morbo, sino porque a veces se siente hasta como una realidad.

-Pearl: If it was the movie that got me thinking about this topic, it was obvious it had to be here. Pearl is the origin story of, redundantly enough, Pearl, the antagonist of Ti West's film "X", one of the best horror films of the year. In this way, it's easy to think that Pearl will be a horror film, and even though it has some nods to horror films and has several Gore scenes, it's more of a drama and character treatment with an incredibly perfect performance by Mia Goth that does nothing but push the script to one more level. This movie is not for everyone as it is simply the treatment of a character and for the same reason it can feel slow despite its short length, but it is definitely something worth seeing if you love movies.

-Pearl: Si fue la película que me hizo pensar en este tema, era obvio que tenía que estar aquí. Pearl es la historia de origen de, valga la redundancia, Pearl, la antagonista de la película de Ti West “X”, una de las mejores películas de terror del año. De esta manera, es fácil pensar que Pearl será una película de terror, y a pesar de que tiene algunos guiños a películas de terror y que tiene varias escenas Gore, es más como un drama y un tratamiento de personaje con una actuación increíblemente perfecta de Mia Goth que no hace más que empujar el guión a un nivel más. Esta película no es para todo el mundo, ya que es simplemente el tratamiento de un personaje y por lo mismo se puede sentir lenta a pesar de su corta duración, pero sin duda es algo que vale la pena ver si te encanta el cine.

-Once upon a time in...Hollywood: Tarantino's latest film is, in my opinion, Tarantino's best film, it feels full of emotion and affection, which I enjoy in an almost inexplicable way. However, I know it's a film where basically "nothing happens" and that's why I've heard so many people say they didn't like it... until they got to the end. Anyone who has seen OUATIH understands what I'm talking about, but if you haven't seen it I invite you to arm yourself with patience and quietly receive one of the funniest films in retrospect that the director has made, with an ending that feels like the icing on the cake for a film of that caliber. And, if you've already seen it, I invite you to watch it again, this time paying attention to the details.

-Once upon a time in…Hollywood: La última película de Tarantino es, en mi opinión, la mejor película de Tarantino, se siente llena de emoción y cariño, lo cual yo disfruto de una forma casi inexplicable. Sin embargo, sé que es una película dónde básicamente “no pasa nada” y por eso mismo he escuchado a mucha gente decir que no les gustó…, hasta que llegaron al final. Cualquiera que haya visto OUATIH entiende de lo que hablo, pero si no la has visto te invito a que te armes de paciencia y recibas tranquilo una de las películas más divertidas en retrospectiva que ha hecho el director, con un final que se siente como la cereza del pastel para una cinta de ese calibre. Y, si ya la viste, te invito a volverla a ver, está vez prestándole atención a los detalles.
