Why the Fuck Should I Watch: AVENGERS: ENDGAME
(may contain spoilers)
Why the fuck should you watch “Avengers: Endgame”?
• Omg omg omg, it’s here!
• You think why aren’t there more fat superheroes.
• You like the new Marvel theme – things actually have consequences.
• Peer pressure is massive and you don't want to be one of those people, who hasn't seen the box office record breaking Marvel movie in which everyone... hehehe.
• You like the film version of being in a bathtub that is filled with shiny top brand candy and instead of water you are sprayed with fan service providing sticky liquids, eem what.
Robert Downey Jr. as Iron man.
You know the feeling, when you were a kid and the Christmas finally came (to get socks for a present). You know the feeling when you go to school for the whole year and then the summer vacation finally comes. You know the feeling when you are pregnant and the child finally comes after 16 hours of cruciating pain. Well, this is nothing compared to waiting for the Avengers: Endgame and finally seeing it. All the previous movies were a pregame… aka foreplay (hehe). Now it’s time to end it. Yees. Let’s end it epically! The very last MCU mov…BTW a new Spider-Man movie comes in 3 months. Marvel never does only 3 rounds of anything, boy!
Avengers: Endgame is the 22nd movie of the MCU movie franchise. It ends a chapter in MCU series, because many main actors want to move on and some characters have just died in the last movies. But how can you make a conclusion of 21 movies with ONE movie. The fact that Endgame manages to pull this off is actually rather big achievement. It almost topped the smart and functional solutions of the last Avengers movie with 70+ characters. Movie’s runtime is over 3 hours tho, so it really takes it’s time. All the characters who were at least a little important, get their last moment and everything gets tied up nicely.
Avengers uses time travel as it’s main plot device. With time travel things can sometimes get quite messy and difficult to understand, but the movie establishes it’s time travel rules that work in the MCU very clearly, and from then on it’s easy to understand. Basically: nothing you do in the past changes YOUR present day in the future you came from.
We meet the “past Thanos ” and I felt that now he was even more intimidating. He just didn’t give a shit. Waiting with his sword in front of the Avengers HQ and basically almost killing everybody. I can’t imagine Thanos with a pistol. A sword was a good choice. It’s interesting how technically super advanced creatures use swords. I was like: “Yeaah baby, swing it like you mean it.“
Josh Brolin as Thanos.
There are so many characters who have an actual character arc or characters who get their stories completed in this movie: Iron-man, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Thor, Nebula and Hulk. Yes, the most important and emotional one was with Iron man, because he’s not coming back anymore. But Thor’s story was my favourite. You find him in a (mental) shape he’s never been before – he lost basically everything in a short space of time and failed to kill Thanos when he had a chance. The loss and quilt can destroy any man, only the strong ones find a way to cope with it and move on.
Chris Hemsworth as Thor.
But time to answer your questions:
- Do we see Ant-man shrink himself, go into Thanos through his…body hole and then turn into huge Ant-man thus destroying him and being the Unverse’s hero? No.
- When Spider-man comes back to life, is it a happy moment when he meets Tony again? No.
- Does Hawkeye still have that boring haircut? No. Many people have new haircuts. Strong people can leave their old haircuts and move on.
- What is the emotion when the movie ends? Well, it’s a little sad, a little happy, a little empty, and it feels like an achievement (watching 22 Marvel movies in 11 years is quite a feat).
Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner as Black Widow and Hawkeye.
Why the fuck you shouldn’t watch “Avengers: Endgame”?
• You absolutely liked the Captain Marvel character and think she is the main character in this movie also.
• You have tried to get yourself a new haircut with electrocuting yourself and you almost died. So every time you see someone doing it, you get super jealous.
• You aren't that of a big fan and have watched only a few MCU movies as a background for cleaning your house. You will probably get a little bored of this sentimental, constantly referential and still formulaic MCU romp.
