Why the Fuck Should I Watch: GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS? (2019)
Why the fuck should you watch “Godzilla: King of the Monsters”?
• Big-ass monsters fighting other big-ass monsters - your childhood dream has come true.
• You are the CGI reviewer.
• You think that nuclear weapons are needed in our world but you don’t have good enough reason yet to convince others.
• You want to test your skill to be super naive at will. It takes a lot of skill to be able to make yourself believe that Godzilla died in the middle of the movie. Oh the surprise when it turns out that he is still alive for the final fight. OMG.
“Godzilla: King of the Monsters” is a sequel to the 2014 movie “Godzilla”. Everything is bigger now: Godzilla is on steroids, villain monsters are bigger, war scenes are bigger and of course - stupidity of humans is bigger. That all pleases Godzilla fans and they get what they like. Having said that, the plot is predictable and it doesn’t feel important. Watching the movie you know, that the Godzilla won’t lose and that fact makes everything feel more boring than it actually is on the screen.
The movie is quite dark and gritty but still tries to push for some jokes to get some laughs – none of them worked. The movie would have been better if every scene with humans would have been cut. If you’re gonna make a Godzilla movie, then go all out with that. Who needs humans in giant monsters life? For them we are like ants, nothing more.
The next movie “Godzilla vs. Kong” is coming in 2020. I really hope thy use the same technique to drive the plot like “Batman vs. Superman” did. Godzilla screaming: “Why did you say my momma's name!” and Kong replies “I can’t talk, ffs, I just roared!”. And then all hell breaks loose.
In conclusion: It’s A great CGI-action movie but nothing more and people with kinky desires to use their brains for thinking and not for consuming will struggle. And yes, CGI-action is a separate genre now, because I just made it up.
Why the fuck you shouldn’t watch “Godzilla: King of the Monsters”?
• You are a horrible human being, some even call you a monster.
• After a very entertaining movie “Kong: Skull Island” your expectations are high to get a fun action movie.
• Or you though that "Godzilla" (2014) even had some cool atmospheric visual and tension building - especially in the way it depicted tha monster. Here you see Godzilla in his glory in the first fucking scene.
• You think that a movie needs something little more than 1,5 hours of CGI effects and 45 minutes of people doing and saying lame things.
