Why the Fuck Should I Watch: SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME

Why the fuck should you watch “Spider-Man: Far From Home”?
• You love plot holes that are actually not plot holes.
• You have always wondered how to casually slip in the sentence “I’m strong and sticky” in the real life.
• MCU equals guaranteed escapist entertainment for you.

“Break to build” as they say. Avengers: Endgame had lasting consequences in the MCU with some main heroes dying/retiring, while the whole world was deeply affected by the SNAP. That doesn’t stop Marvel to start slapping us with new movies from Phase 4. Oh yeah, slap me with those! Faster.

And first with a teenage superhero, called Peter Parker aka Spider-Man, who (Tom Holland) is a 16-year-old boy. That is something that you should keep in mind when watching the new Spider-Man movie. Teenagers don’t always think things through, they act impulsively and sometimes they struggle with priorities. This is all happening with the young Peter Parker too, who is still trying to overcome the loss of his friend and father-figure Tony Stark.

In "Spider-Man: Far From Home" he sees a traditional Eurotrip as a pill for the pain. But as the plain lands new responsibilities, monsters and superhero like characters emerge. So long flirting with chicks and checking the sights. The Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) appears and he doesn’t give a single fuck. He wants to be praised as the greatest superhero in the universe, so he is willing to do anything to get that attention that he thinks he undeservingly hasn’t got for years. Mentally unstable people become dangerous when they feel left aside and not appreciated you know. He uses his genius-level team, technology and showmanship to make everyone believe that he’s the mighty hero that can step up after the Avengers are gone.

So, Peter with a failing hook up plan gets pulled into another challenge that takes him to face the illusions around and within himself. That means that the movie wanders into a mindfuck-genre. When this happens, I often start moaning that they went in too soft and should’ve done more and gone all in with it. Well, not this time. This movie manages to mess with the brain throughout till the end and leaves you with the slight and sweet paranoia to go home with. I love it.

Why the fuck you shouldn’t watch “Spider-Man: Far From Home”?
• You start to cry every time you see Tony Stark’s face.
• This is the first Marvel Movie you are planning to watch. Well, boy, this is not kindergarten anymore - nobody will help you to get up to speed with backstory of 22 prequels in this movie.
• You get so annoyed by boring dialogue, MCU formulaic plot structure and the circle-jerking nature of these movies that you'd rather watch the pregnant Arnold Schwarzenegger again in "Junior".
