Today I'm writing a review of the movie "The Godfather". It's probably the most famous Mafia movie in the history of cinema. it has been in the top three of the best American movies for years and looks like it will stay there for a long time to come. Three Academy Awards and 19 different awards and 17 more nominations - all about "The Godfather". What is so special about this movie, what is it about, is it worth watching, I will try to tell you all about it in this review.
About the film : -Directed by : Francis Ford Coppola. -Genre : Epic gangster drama. -Budget: $6 million, the film grossed about $268 million at the box office. -A total of 3 films were made: The Godfather (1972), The Godfather 2 (1974), The Godfather 3 (1990).
The film is based on Mario Puzo's The Godfather. The author of the documentary Charles Brandt wrote that the final version of the script of "The Godfather" gave the green light to Russell Bufalino himself - the head of one of the criminal families, who enjoyed great prestige. By the way, Martin Scorsese's movie about Russell Bufalino and his killer friend called "The Irishman".
What is "The Godfather" about and its main ideas? The film tells the story of a mafia crime family of Sicilian origin, who migrated to America during the Great Depression era and began to establish their own laws on American soil, competing with other crime families for money and spheres of influence, in order to eventually legalize themselves and live with the family without any filth. The Americans, in general, did not mind the Italian migrants' infestation or made very kind faces if they were shared with them, and those who were strongly opposed made an offer impossible to refuse, or simply put a bullet in the forehead without any choice. Eventually the Italian Mafia conquered America and infiltrated all levels of it. If you dig deeper, the film shows a deep tragedy from the beginning of the 19th century to the present day, because the film is almost 50 years old, but it doesn't lose its relevance. The system is completely rotten, where people go to the mafia for justice, because you can't get it by legal means. What it's like for a child to be all alone in a foreign country, knowing that you're alone in the whole world and no one needs you. No one dreams of being a salesman in a small shop or a simple worker, barely making ends meet, and groveling before the local ungentlemanly bosses. The way out - to start a family, build a mafia empire, the very becoming of the boss, but such as America has never seen. Can an ideal family man be at the same time a ruthless mafia boss and what should happen to a man to pass this way. And he, who yesterday disowned the family's criminal affairs, stood up for his family and became the new "Godfather. And even killed his mother's son, not forgiving his weakness. So what's it like to wallow in the criminal swamp for the family and kill your brother... How does it feel for a wife to know that your husband is a member of a mafia cell or the head of a criminal family in general. Unlimited finances, power and reputation? The main character is a true loving woman showing how she is "happy" with all this and what she dreams of. The film on the one hand romanticizes evil and gangster life, while at the same time, on the other hand, one sees the greatest reckoning for all that pretty picture and power. The 19th century is a century of fierce wars and revolutions, all this goes hand in hand, three generations are shown, who have seen different times, what their fathers and grandfathers sowed is reaped by their children. For example, in the film one can episodically see the beginning of the Cuban revolution - overthrow of Batista's regime, acceptable to America, and coming to power of Fidel Castro, a loyal friend of the USSR, by the way, who gave Americans a hard time for 55 years after. And it is told how it has turned out for the American business in Cuba.
The most famous movie actors : -Marlon Brando, the legend and rebel of American cinema, got the role of Vito Corleone. In 1972, Marlon Brando won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in The Godfather. But it is noteworthy that Marlon Brando refused an Oscar, thereby expressing, for ideological reasons, a protest to American society. By the way, the original film company "Paramount" did not want to work with Marlon Brando because of his scandalous reputation, but the director of the picture Francis Ford Coppola only saw Marlon in the role of Godfather, with which the studio later agreed. Interestingly, later the film company also wanted to change the director to a more iconic, but then Brando refused to shoot without Coppola and eventually left everything as it is.
-Al Pacino - a living legend in the first gangster movies got the role of the Godfather's son - Michael Corleone, who later continued his family business. Interestingly, some of the producers wanted to replace Al Pacino from the film, they did not like his play, but Coppola was not inclined and later Al Pacino's play was appreciated, as well as the director's insight in selecting the actor.
-Robert De Niro - another living legend of the cinema got the role of the young Vito Corleone. It was this role that made the thirty-year-old De Niro famous.

And finally, quotes from the movie "The Godfather" : 1.An old habit. I've been careful all my life. 2.Revenge is a dish that should be served cold. 3.Both pain and fear pass, only death is unchanged. 4.Nothing personal. Only business. 5.Never show strangers what's on your mind. Never show your cards to strangers. 6.A lawyer can steal more with his folder than a masked thief. 7.The laws of the outside world are no more moral than those dictated by a criminal way of life. 8.A man who does not pay attention to his family cannot be called a real man. 9.They did not expect justice from the state, they went to the mafia for justice. And the mafia gave birth to their own Robin Hoods. 10.You have to learn, as a father, to put your family, your home, your children, your little world first. 11.All people are born the same, but some become geniuses and giants. 12.Reasonable people will always be able to find a way out of business difficulties. 13.Emotions interfere with thinking. 14.And now you come and ask: "Don Corleone, I need justice." But you ask without respect. And you don't offer friendship. 15.despite with whom or what goals you pursue, traitors everywhere are despised, even by enemies. 16.There are people who will pay dearly for this information. 17.I have a sentimental attachment to my children and, as you can see, I spoiled them too much. 18.Man's first duty is to stay alive. And follows what people call honor. 19.Time quickly takes away gratitude - even faster than beauty. 20.I'm not sorry. I worked all my life for the sake of the family, I did not want to be a fool who is pulled by the strings of the powerful of this world. But I thought that when your time came, you would pull the strings .I will be even more frank to show that I have a heart inside, and not a cash register. 21.Fredo, you are my older brother, and I love you very much, but never go against the family with anyone ... Never.

Do I recommend it? Even that "The Godfather" might not appeal few people, at the same time I'm sure the very most people will like it. As for me, it is one of my favorite movies, it left its imprint in my heart forever, especially the first time I saw it. Yes, these are fictional characters, but the very essence of the narrative is real and the living mobsters recognize their lives and each other in the film. If you haven't seen "The Godfather" yet, I definitely recommend careful viewing. It seems, if you think about it, it is clear that the problems in this world are precisely because many of us don't care about others. there is a pervasive, powerful force in this film that draws you in.
