MoviePass Will Get People back to the Big Screen
Ever since entertainment has become more readily available, theaters have seen a steady dip in attendance over the years. Netflix co-founder Mitch Lowe plans to change that with a not so new, yet revamped service. The service named MoviePass that has been around since 2011 for $24.99+ per month has recently announced they are lowering their monthly fee to only $9.95 per month. For less than 10 bucks, the service will allow you to go see a movie at any local theater once per day. Simply download the app and sign in. A list of all the theaters in your area with showtimes will pop up. Click the Movie you want and showtime. Check in once you arrive to the theater and the card will be loaded with the exact amount to buy the ticket. Swipe your MoviePass Mastercard just as you would any other credit card and voila! MoviePass is likely to lose money by providing cheaper subscriptions, but the plan is to use the lower cost to entice more people to join and get those seats warm again just like the old days.
