Hi @aggroed I think that you gave an incorrect answer to @davidpakman. The amount of steem that is produced is "fixed". It's a percentage of the total supply that declines over time. It is not a function of the marketcap. Steem Dollars on the other hand can fluctuate because it depends on the price feed of the witnesses.
