5 of the Craziest Things Mötley Crüe Did

in #music6 years ago (edited)

After a 35 year blur of trashed hotel rooms, traveling the world, and the only lines longer then their sold out concerts were coming in powder form, Mötley Crüe finally ended their partying in 2015 on their last world tour. Notorious of being one of the hardest partying bands of all time, I thought I'd share 5 stories of their more wild side.

  1. The hit song “Kickstart my Heart” was inspired by Nikki Sixx overdosing. In 1987 Nikki shot up so much heroin that he overdosed and was later declared dead for 2 minutes while in an ambulance. The paramedics pumped him with multiple shots of adrenaline and miraculously managed to revive him. Shortly after being admitted to the hospital, Nikki pulled the tubes out, escaped the hospital, found a ride back home, and did it all over again.

  2. Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx had a bet over who could go the longest without showering and still score with a groupie.
The band’s exploits with groupies has been well-documented, but this might be the most fascinating detail: Lee and Sixx’s wager to see who could go the longest without showering and still hook up. The wager ended after an unfortunate incident involving a girl vomiting up pasta all over Nikki Sixx from the smell which would prove to inspire the title of the Guns ‘N Roses album The Spaghetti Incident.

  3. On October 1st, 1987, Sixx was in his Los Angeles mansion enjoying a hit off a crack pipe. Except, this was some particularly fine cocaine. "As soon as I got the rock and hit the pipe... the whole house started shaking, rolling, and shit was falling off the walls," Sixx recounted.
Eventually, Sixx realised that he was caught in the middle of an earthquake. The 5.9-on-the-Richter-scale quake killed eight people and left 2,200 Angelinos homeless, except for Sixx, whose reaction was to sprint out of his home, naked and waving a crack pipe, locking the door behind him in the process.

  4. At their first show at the L.A. club Starwood, a guy in the crowd spat and it landed on Neil's white leather pants. Neil hopped off the stage and started fighting him, and Nikki Sixx backed him up, cracking his bass guitar across another crowd member.

  5. The band's Sunset Strip apartment had a major roach problem. They couldn't afford pesticide, so they'd use lighters and hair spray to exterminate the bugs — or, if they were using the oven, they'd leave it on high for 10 minutes to kill any roaches inside first.
The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services had to force the band members to remove all the garbage they let pile up on the back patio of their Sunset Strip apartment.

@arzon-cnaster those guys from Rammstein are crazy. I never saw them live though. I dont even know if they are still touring

i couldn´t get a ticket when they were touring.
Last thing i heard they´re working on a new album, but that could take awhile

I hope they do at least one more so I can catch them. I saw some clip where their pyrotechnics and fire display looked like the stage was going to burn down

yeah, their pyrotechnicians know hoe to make the show hot as hell.
Would love to see them too ... at least once

Funny read, those guys were madder than a cut snake

I just watched a documentary on them and i was like... these dudes were loose
