Make My Dreams Come True (Amber) (Original Song)
The little voice inside my head said to me that I shouldn't write love songs. Try to find other things to write about, because one day you will end up with nothing but a catalog of songs about love. So I tried to write about other things...but love is what it all comes back to.
Love is the thing I know the most about. And it's the thing I know the least about. When it's good, it's the most incredible warm and beautiful thing there is. When it's bad, it hurts like nothing else. So...how do I not write songs about it?
This song started off as being all sung, but the spoken verses idea started creeping into my head. It was sparked by a new version of the song "Shame On The Moon" by Rodney Crowell (it had been a hit for Bob Seger years before). In his new version, Crowell speaks the verses , some with new lyrics, and his backup singers take the chorus. It completely changed the song. And I feel that the same treatment has done the same here. I also changed the key from G to C, making it sound completely different than it originally was.
A lot has happened to me in the relationship department over the years, and I have, unfortunately, found myself on the down side of that for now. This is a song that pulls from the sadder side, the down side, the side that hurts. But, you know, there's always the hope, too. You could make my dreams come true, darlin'...if only you would just darken my door...
MAKE MY DREAMS COME TRUE (AMBER)
words and music by DINO ROMANELLI
Last night I had a dream
Strolling down the river, me and you
Like we used to do
It was a time, that summer belonged to us
Back when our love was new
You looked up at me and I could see
By the look in your eyes
Your love for me was real, oh so real
I never could find the words
To describe the sensation
The way you made me feel
Amber, you made my life worthwhile
You made me smile
Baby, I still think of you
Amber, if you only could be with me tonight
Then I'd be holding you tight
I'm so in love with you
Amber, make my dreams come true
Yesterday, I kissed you
Today my lips can only speak your name
I don't know how or why our love went by
Is anyone to blame
I want you to know that I've been missing you so much
Won't you please come home
I need you
I'm in love and I'm alone
Amber, you made my life worthwhile
You made me smile
Baby, I still think of you
Amber, if you only could be with me tonight
Then I'd be holding you tight
I'm so in love with you
Amber, make my dreams come true
I can still remember
You told me you loved me so
I can still remember
When you said those words to me
Oh, how you glowed
I hope that you can find it in your heart
To give it one more try
But if you don't want to see me again
At least please tell me why
But I'll love you till the day I die
Amber, you made my life worthwhile
You made me smile
Baby, I still think of you
Amber, if you only could be with me tonight
Then I'd be holding you tight
I'm so in love with you
Amber, make my dreams come true
Make my dreams come true...

Hi @dinoromanelli, thank you for your lovely song. From the song, I can felt you still missed your last relationship. You have express your emotion very well when you present. is this her real name "Amber"? I always heard people said that you can only sung it with emotion if you have experienced it. Now i knew it was true. Hope next round I able to listen your happy song. One last thing, you should continue write and sing love song. I love how you presented it.
@oliviackl ... Thank you so much for listening, and for your most kind words! Yes. My last relationship did not end on a happy note (they rarely do), but this one was particularly hard for me. Her name was actually not Amber. Sometimes, to be honest, I will change a name simply because I need something that will fit the song better. In this case, I needed two syllables. Crazy, huh?
Yes, this song comes from a lot of personal experience. It's pretty much all true, and it touches a nerve that is sometimes still raw for me. But it's also very therapeutic to let these feelings out. Songwriting is very much like therapy. And it helps a lot.
I do have some happier material, for sure! I do some videos throughout the weeks, sometimes original songs, and sometimes cover songs that I really enjoy singing and playing. I'm very happy that you took the time to listen here, and hopefully I can sing for you again soon!
@dinoromanelli, I have followed you so that I knew when would be your next video release. Your song really expressed it well. This relationship must be affected you so much that you still can felt the pain. Music is a best medicine in the world. It can release a personally feeling for a song composer and singer. And it also can help to released the emotion. Hope you can get over it over time and be a happy man again.
Beautiful love song, Dino...
Nice, brother!

Aw, Serena, my dear friend! It means a lot when people like what I do, but it's always a bit more special when you do. You set the bar high for me, and you inspire me greatly! Thank you for your kind words, as always!
I know you try not to write love songs really but well I guess you ended up writing it, I'm glad you didn't fight the urge to write it because the lyrics is so laden with pure emotion and I can feel it gently in your voice
There beautiful way you struck that guitar you used lightened up the whole song and made it so worthwhile to listen to.
Well done, this us totally amazing.
I so appreciate your kind comment. Thank you so much!
What a sad and beautifully interpretation ...this a soul touching song.

Indeed I do like your work a lot!!!! Thank you again!
Hey Dino!
I laid down on my bed while listening. I could remember the song by Aerosmith - I Don't Want to Miss a Thing in your voice some kinda similar.
I like it!
You'd delivered it nicely and smoothly.
Hey...thanks, @ronel ! Any comparison to Steven Tyler is a huge compliment. He's one of my all time favorites! I'm happy that you enjoyed this.
Yeah I enjoyed it pretty much!
How long have you been in singing and songwriting?
I love listening to music and I can as well sing but just on my own but never tried getting it to the next level.
I've been into music my whole life. I started on the cello, then switched instruments a bunch of times before settling on guitar. I learned to sing in church. I went to a church that did not allow musical instruments, so it was just voices. Imagine a church filled with about three or four hundred people singing in four part harmony...it was quite inspiring! Maybe you have a friend who can play an instrument...maybe see if the two of you can work something out as far as a song goes and see where it takes you. No pressure...just "hey...let's get together and learn a song. Just for fun". If nothing else, it would be a fun experience for you!
Yeah. Thanks for the advice Dino!
I'm a little bit older now, so maybe I'll think it over.
I was also in a choir during my high school days in a church as well and the administration was a Jesuit priest and two nuns. During college days, I spent some time singing with my friends, but never in mind creating a band or joining a singing contest, just purely enjoyment. When I was working, I seldom sing. And now, I just listen to music.
The best thing about music is that you can enjoy it at whatever level you choose. Even if it's just listening, music is a magical thing. It can move you, inspire you, bring a smile or a tear or any other feeling you might be in need of. I find singing and performing to be very therapeutic, but I also find that in just listening. I always have music going in my life. It helps keep me level. It keeps me grounded. And it keeps me sane!
Enjoy music, that's the key. On your own terms. And you'll be happy. I believe that wholeheartedly!
Yeah, thanks!
As if we're carried away by that music when we hear it.
Some would say, it lifts the spirit.
I guess without music, what would life be?
I just googled 'music heals' and this is the first link, How music can help you heal
@dinoromanelli What a pleasure to hear you, my friend, with your sweet and gentle voice accompanied by the beautiful melody of your guitar played by your hands. The lyrics of the song are super beautiful. Remember that beautiful love when it was new and the real and passionate feelings that lived in that moment. It's nice when the lyrics say I still think about you. True and pure love is the best thing that can happen to us in life. Congratulations on your beautiful performance where you showed us great feelings and sang with all your heart. A big greeting and a big hug.
Wow...what a beautiful comment!I am so happy that my song can move you in such a way. That makes it all worthwhile, for sure! I think that the key ingredient in any sad song is hope. Without hope, there is nothing but despair. But add in hope, and the possibilities can be endless. Thank you so much for your kind words!
Hey, buddy.
Thanks to you friend who always allow us to enjoy beautiful songs with your sweet voice. Have a great day.
You are so kind. Thank YOU for listening, and for encouraging me to keep on going!
