[Know your song #1] Linkin Park - Bleed It Out

in #music6 years ago

Intepretation:

You try to do your best, but for someone it's still not enough. You have to do it again and again, correct it, change it. Until the hill hits you. This is what "Bleed It Out" is all about. It was exactly how long it took to write this song.

"Yeah, hear we go for the hundredth time - we know what this is all about right from the start. Mike Shinoda makes it clear that he has overwritten the track so many times that he has already lost his mind. It is also a reference to problems that once appeared on other tracks. "Hand grenade pins every line/Throw up and let something shine" - the author metaphorically says that the producers of the album expected fireworks after this song, but they never liked it, so they decided to write it about these expectations.

There are also two loose references to their greatest hit, "In The End" (among others, "Doesn't matter how hard I try"), as if they let it know that they won't write more of a similar song, and "Filthy mouth/No excuse", which Shinoda explains that the band ends up with polite lyrics without curses. "Bleed It Out", dressed in almost punk arrangements and angry vocals, perfectly illustrates the text. Full of frustration and resignation. But in the end the track defends itself very well and is also a fantastic complement to the concerts. Even in the lyrics of the song you can find references to it: "Make a dirt dancefloor again?Say your prayers and stomp it out/When they bring that chorus in".

Lyrics:

[Verse 1: Mike Shinoda]
Yeah, here we go for the hundredth time
Hand grenade pins in every line
Throw 'em up and let something shine
Going out of my fucking mind
Filthy mouth, no excuse
Find a new place to hang this noose
String me up from atop these roofs
Knot it tight so I won't get loose
Truth is, you can stop and stare
Run myself out and no one cares
Dug the trench out, laid down there
With a shovel up out of reach somewhere
Yeah, someone pour it in
Make it a dirt dance floor again
Say your prayers and stomp it out
When they bring that chorus in

[Hook: Chester Bennington]
I bleed it out, digging deeper just to throw it away
I bleed it out, digging deeper just to throw it away
I bleed it out, digging deeper just to throw it away
Just to throw it away, just to throw it away

[Verse 2: Mike Shinoda]
I bleed it out, go, stop the show
Drop your words and let sloppy flow
Shotgun, opera, lock and load
Cock it back and then watch it go
Mama, help me, I've been cursed
Death is rolling in every verse
Candy paint on his brand new hearse
Can't contain him, he knows he works
Fuck, this hurts, I won't lie
Doesn't matter how hard I try
Half the words don't mean a thing
And I know that I won't be satisfied
So I try ignoring him
Make it a dirt dance floor again
Say your prayers and stomp it out
When they bring that chorus in

[Hook]

[Bridge]
I bleed it out, I've opened up these scars
I'll make you face this
I've pulled myself so far
I'll make you face this now

[Hook x2]

[Outro]
I bleed it out
I bleed it out
I bleed it out
