Why the Fuck Should I Watch: YESTERDAY
Why the fuck should you watch “Yesterday”?
• You like that music genre is giving some competition to superhero genre in cinemas.
• The only The Beatles song you like is “Help”.
• You need some movie to put on in the evenings during what you can fall asleep and not feel any guilt that you didn’t watch it till the end.
• Your favourite was John Lennon.
“Yesterday” or should I say: “Yesterday: The Pepsi Movie” is a movie about a musician Jack Malik (Himesh Patel) who sings only The Beatles songs on the streets and in small clubs, and thinks that he should become famous someday, which he doesn’t. So he is very sad and then gets run over by a bus. When he wakes up in the hospital, the World has changed a little. Some things are just erased from existing, that includes The Beatles band and their songs. So it’s a no-brainer to make money off of that.
The main character is annoying guy, the plot is very predictable and usual, but at least the songs are good right! I mean, these are The Beatles songs - those can save absolutely any movie! No. Somehow this movie managed to be boring even when the famous songs were played. You can’t tease me with “Let It Be” song for an entire scene and then never to play it.
I’m sorry guys, but Coca-Cola didn’t make it. It’s gone. Only Pepsi is existing. That was made very clear multiple times - almost a 2 hour commercial. I mean, if you want to advertise something then make a good 2 hour commercial – Like Matrix. After that movie everyone wanted to go to the nearest sex shop to buy tight leather/latex outfit and straps….for…lots of guns. What a movie. The rumor is that they are working on the 4th one’s script. Oh wait, I was talking about “Yesterday”. Well, just listen the songs on Youtube, you will not miss anything besides the nice Lily James, who plays Jack Malik’s love-interest and does pretty good job with that.
Why the fuck you shouldn’t watch “Yesterday”?
• You like to live in the past. Thinking on everything you have lost and hum by yourself… ”yesterdaaay, all my troubles were so faaaar awaaay”
• You have seen “Rocketman” and thought that “Those music movies are great! Let’s go and see another one!” No, don’t do it! You should always go from bad to good, not vice a versa.
• You don’t like lazily written plots.
• You are Ed Sheeran (was also in the movie) who lost a songwriting battle and don’t want salt in the fresh wounds.
