MY LOCAL NEWS] Uyo event day 20: Nsit Atai cultural and traditional day
Today 20th December, 2023 the good people of Nsit Atai local governement area of Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria showcased their traditional/cultural heritage at the Christmas Unplugged event center, Uyo.

The ancient zone of Nsit Atai local government area, is known for her diverse culture and traditional beliefs and practice.
With the multiple troupes, drum players, dancers, varrious cultural groups, and masquerades, today was promising to all the visitors as the enjoyed so many thrilling moments with the people of Nsit Atai.
Speaking to one of the attendees named Akparawa Nsikan Umoh, who is also from Nsit Atai local government area, he mentioned the event as the best of it's kind and also an eye opener to culture and ethics.
"If I had missed this event this year, I may not lokely forgive myself 😀, but I am glad that I am alive to attain it. I would like to thank our dear governor His excellency pastor Umoh Eno for introducing this style of ending the year. This has never happened before but he introduced this initiative to secure our culture and tradition. This is the best of it's kind trust me. And I would also like to say that this is an eye opener to culture and ethics. Young ones can easily learn our culture through this means. To be frank, my children are really having fun because this is their first time of seeing the whole cultural display from home. We have been in Lagos all the while, but we are here to witness this one." - Akparawa Nsikan Umoh
Each group took their turn as they performed to the admiration of the large audience watching.
They had cultural performances like Ekpo ntuk, Eka ekpo, ntuk odio dio, ekpe.
The local professional drummers for each cultural troupe were on standby to provide music and drumming for the varrious performing cultural groups.
Aside the varrious cultural performances by the people of Nsit Atai, they also demonstrated how to prepare the local dry gin which is mostly consumed
within the state.
They sieze such moment to teach everyone on how this popular dry gin is prepared locally using the most comon process.
Despite the advanced coordination by the securities, there were still lapses and challenges when it comes to crowd management which affected the visibility of some of the performers to the viewers.
As a result of this, most of the cultural groups present didn't have sufficient time to perform as they planned.
Members of the monitoring and compliance team promised to adjust that by tomorrow, they also promised, it won't happened again.
Interestingly the ekpo cultural group which happens to be one of the oldest cultural/traditional
practice in the state of Akwa Ibom was captured in the arena.
The performance of this cultural group didn't just overshadow all the other performancs, but they brought together all the sons of daughters of Nsit Atai as they sang, danced to the heavy rhythmic sound of the ekpo drum.
The older women from Nsit Atai showcase their various delicacies and their organic farm produce.
As a form of educating , the fried garri in the arena live to demonstrate how it is done, fufu was also prepared while palm wine tapper and palm tree climbers showcase their skills and the organic plants they have.
During the closing remarks, the local governement chairman of Nsit Atai Hon. Lady Emem Ibanga commended all the stake holders and the invited guest for making their day celebration a success and wishes everyone a journey mercies.

Oh.., this is cocoyam.
It is very comon in Nigeria. It can be cooked in many ways for consumption. Very nutritious. For example, it contains much vitamins and minerals that can boast the immune system.
It is also worth to note that we have different species of cocoyam.
Cocoyam can be cooked in form of porridge , it could be roasted....etc.
