The 120 Year, & Counting, War. Part 1.
Here’s what nobody tells you about “awakening.” When awakening, intersects with curiosity, critical thinking and instant access to superficial data, (as opposed to deep-diving into biographies and memoirs.)
In one of the “many” blogs, audios or videos we produce, we were goofing around. Ready to concede that we were living through World War 3, we were like, “World War 2 never really ended. It transitioned. This is still the same war.”
But then we remembered some historians contend that World War 2 was just a continuation of World War 1. Then there was the World War before the Great War, (the name before it was dubbed WW1), between Russia and Japan. Japan invaded Russia! (1904). Seems incredible given the island nation’s neutered reputation today. [Note, it only seems surprising to this awakening vessel because of our Euro-supremacist brain-washing. How could we even imagine that an Asian Island nation could defeat a European country. Japanese warriors were true badasses back in the day.]
Everything that’s happened from now, back to 1898, in Cuba, is the same war. It all goes back to the same ethos, the same arrogance that drives the same policies, that kept Europe fighting among itself for 1500 years. They brought that same shit over to the western hemisphere, and James, “Monroe-doctrine” Monroe, declared that Europe shall not interfere with the western hemisphere.
Yes, James Monroe, was a poet, as well as fifth President of the United States. James Monroe, incidentally was involved with sending African-American slaves back to Africa, to Liberia, (Liberty, get it?), which is why the capital is called Monrovia. But back to the edge of the 20th Century. It’s not just America at War. It’s an “ethos,” and idea. And by 1989, “Whiteness” had become an identity in the US & western Europe.
There were battles, skirmishes, uprisings, revolutions, invasions, rebellions, coups, color revolutions, but it’s all the same global war.
This will have to be continued, as a 120 year war, that’s still in effect, will take a few days.
Spanish-American War (1898): The U.S. emerges as a colonial power, taking the Philippines, Guam, Puerto Rico, and Cuba (as a protectorate). This wasn't just a war; it was a declaration of arrival. It signaled that the old European imperial system now had a new, aggressive partner across the Atlantic.
Boer War (1899–1902): Britain's brutal counter-insurgency (concentration camps, scorched earth) in South Africa, fought to control the world's largest gold deposits, foreshadows every subsequent colonial "police action." The Bank of London and the Rothschilds financed both sides, showing capital's supra-national loyalty to profit, not country.
Philippine-American War (1899–1902): The true sequel to 1898. 200,000 Filipino civilians killed. Concentration camps, water torture, "kill and burn" orders. This is the template for Vietnam, Algeria, and Iraq.
Russo-Japanese War (1904–1905): First time a non-European power defeats a European empire. Japan enters the imperial club. This war, mediated by the U.S. (Teddy Roosevelt), establishes the pattern of peripheral powers using Western military technology to challenge old structures.
From 1898, we see a globalized battlefield. The U.S., Britain, Japan, and Russia are now locked in a competition for spheres of influence that ignores continent boundaries. Finance (London, then New York) underwrites all sides.
Mexican Revolution & Border Wars (1910–1919): Pershing's expedition (1916) chasing Pancho Villa. U.S. interventions to protect American oil interests, a direct precedent for Central America.
The Great War and Its "Lesser" Wars (1914–1923).
WW1 (1914–1918): The obvious explosion. But note: Germany's goal of Mitteleuropa, and the Allies' carving of Ottoman territories are direct continuations of 1898's imperial logic.
Post-WW1 Lesser-Known Wars (1917–1923).
Russian Civil War (1917–1922): Allied intervention (U.S., UK, Japan, France) fighting to destroy communism. This is the first "Cold War" hot conflict.
Polish-Soviet War (1919–1921): A direct attempt to roll back the Bolshevik revolution.
Greco-Turkish War (1919–1922): Final act of the Ottoman Empire's partition.
Irish War of Independence (1919–1921): British counter-insurgency, a model for later, "small wars."
The League of Nations is supposed to end war, but the 1919–1923 period proves that the Great War never really ended, it just fragmented into smaller, manageable massacres. The distinction between "war" and "police action" is born here.
The Long Armistice (1923–1939) & The Interwar Interventions.
Spanish Civil War (1936–1939): The rehearsal for WW2. Germany, Italy, and the USSR test airpower and terror bombing (Guernica). Also a proxy war 30 years before "proxy war" was a term.
Banana Wars (1898–1934): U.S. Marine occupations of Nicaragua, Honduras, Haiti, Dominican Republic. Direct corporate imperialism (United Fruit, Standard Fruit) linking Wall Street to Marine Corps rifle squads.
British & French Colonial Pacifications (1920s–1930s): In Syria, Iraq, Morocco (Rif War), and India (Waziristan). Poison gas, aerial bombardment of villages, collective punishment, all "police actions" against locals resisting resource extraction (oil, phosphates, cotton).
Italian Invasion of Ethiopia (1935): Last act of classical imperialism, but also a rehearsal for WW2's mechanized warfare.
The "20-year armistice" wasn't peaceful. It was filled with continuous small wars, all maintaining the 1898-derived system of Euro-American global control.
