INTRODUCTION

Good people of nature and agriculture steemians, good to know that everyone of you is healthy and sound. I welcome everyone to another year of agriculture and farming practices. I know we would all be warming up to embrace this year's farming season. I therefore wish everyone here a blessed farming season for the year,2026.

In my area, we are still enjoying some of the farm produce from last year planting season. My agriculture diary today has to do with my visit to a part of my farm where I planted plantains.

Just as you may know, this is the season in my area when fully grown and matured plantains are harvested. I took out time walking around the plantation to see how the plantains are. We are still having the dry season but it is not so severe like other previous years.

The dry season doesn't really impact well on plantains. The wind blows down the plantains as their roots are very tender in nature and not strong to hold them. Another disadvantage of the dry season is that, the soil gets dry and so the hips of sand holding the roots of the plantains empties away. With this, any slightest wind that blows, the plantains fall down.

I would really say that it is a full blown diary for me even though my activities focused on the aspect of plantain harvesting and then involves clearing fallen ones, cutting their leaves to prevent wind pressures pushing them down, and piling more sands around the plantains to prevent them falling down.

I walked round the plantation and ensured that some of the plantains that are almost falling down are supported with some woods and hips of sand.

During my work in the plantation, I discovered that some of the plantains are matured for harvesting. Some have bore but not yet matured. A good number of the plantains are matured waiting to be harvested. I am waiting for people to come from their travel for festive seasons before I would sell the matured plantains. Right now, there are not much buyers and so I would for people to come and businesses and markets starts thriving again.

Meanwhile, whenever I need to have plantains as food, I go there right away to cut down the one I would eat. The majority of the plantains harvested in the plantation are sold. I make some amount of money from it . This is why I normally go around there to ensure that the plantains are taken good care of just like I have done today.

I'm waiting for the rainy season to set in so that I will hip more soil and then pure in more manure to them. Plantains do well during the wet season than the dry season. When they are given adequate care by pruning down the overgrown leaves, supply manures to them, piling up hips of soil around them, and support with local woods to enhance their stands, they definitely do well.

Finally, I would say that my day was spent well in my small plantation as I took time to look at the plantains and give them the attention that they need to do well.

I now invite the following persons to participate in this contest:
