3 Reasons Why You Should Love and Protect Killer Bees

in #nature6 years ago

The only way to prevent being attacked by killer bees is to stay away from them. The moment you get close to their colony they can smell your odors, and once one gets to you, they can follow you for close to a mile, stinging you mercilessly until your face is swollen and red.

They attack you to protect their queen and colony. “One day I saw bees attacking a herd of elephants,” said a former park ranger. “The elephants started running away as soon as they realized that they had disturbed the beehive. The bees followed them for about a mile."

Killer bees have attacked and killed young pets, after stinging them hundreds of times. It is recommended that you prevent your pets from running into bushes, open fields or abandoned buildings. Some pets enjoy running aimlessly, chasing birds and the like but that is dangerous play in bee territory.

If you are attacked, run and hide in the vehicle. Don’t think that you can outrun the bees. As I have pointed out at the outset, the best way to prevent an attack is not to get near a colony of bees. But that is sometimes difficult because you may not know that you are in trouble until you are attacked. The following three reasons should move you to love and protect killer bees.

1. Crop Pollination

Although bees a have a painful sting, they serve a useful purpose: they pollinate crops. Their aggressive behavior benefits humans in the long run as it helps bees to defend themselves against enemies, which enables colonies to survive.

“Without the bees,” said Cruz Kent, a farmer and bee activist, “the pollination of crops would not be possible. The results would be catastrophic for the human race.”

Already the death of bees in Europe and US due unknown factors is a cause for concern. But the finger of blame is pointing at us humans, due to the indiscriminate use of insecticides, without full knowledge of the consequences.

2. Beautiful Insects

Bees are among the most beautiful insects on planet earth. The sound they make when they fly, their appearance when landing on a flower and yellowish color presented when they are covered with pollen are breathtaking in beauty and unique at the same time. "One of the marvels of design in the universe is the honey bee," said Cruz Kent.

3. Honey Processing

Bees have the unique ability to process and store honey. The honeycomb is one of the architectural marvels in nature, offering maximum strength but a minimum weight of the material. Humans have copied the honeycomb structure in the construction and manufacturing industries.

Honey is delicious and at the same time medicinal. It is suitable for chest infections, a natural, healing agent, an antibiotic on wounds and acne, and a source of energy.
