#Tellmewhy. Tell Me Why Zebra Is White And Black... Or Is It Black And White? Do You Know? I Will Tell You. |2
Hi, Steemers!
My name is Kristina! One of my rubric is #tellmeway.
I have some free time to post by myself :) So I was thinking of the possible interesting topics to write about. I want them to be interesting for you and for me and for my baby. Of course, I want them to be easy-reading, useful and to bring us fun and knowledge as well. So, I decide to write short articles about different things which we should know or we used to know but because of so much #information surrounds and so fast progress we could forget or just interesting #facts.
People used to tell that life is black and white. I think its white and sometimes black stripes happened. And what does Zebra think? What color is its life and its wool? )))
As you understand Today we will talk about #Zebra.
The 1st question what the color of Zebra is: Is it Black and white or white and black?
I've found a lot of information and two different opinions about Zebras color. The final version is that Zebra is black in white stripes. The skin under the coat is black, and little zebra is born black or brown with stripes. The white stripes are caused by the lack of pigment.
Why does Zebra need stripes?
The stripes help the animal to protect itself from insects, especially from tsetse fly which is so dangerous and so many in #Africa. When Tsetse fly sees Zebra, it does not take her as an animal, it thinks its just white and black stripes.
Plus, Stripes help somehow Zebra to run away from harpies: its difficult to concentrate on a moving striped object.
How many stripes does Zebra have?
Every Zebra has its unique color structure. Every man has its unique fingerprint picture. So, Zebras color is the same unique, every Zebra has different number of stripes.
And some more interesting facts about Zebra:
- the max speed force Zebra can reach is 80 km/hour
- baby-Zebra recognizes its mother and after it recognizes members of its family (by the unique color of the coat);
- body can be up to 2-2,5 m length and 1,5 m height;
- the average length of Zebras life is 25 years, but sometimes when Zebra lives in park or conservancy area it can live 35-40 years;
- when Zebras are relaxing, there are few Zebras in herd who are on guard for danger to prevent others;
- Zebra lives in family. There are a lot of Zebra in herd and the herd is separated in many small families. Sometimes Zebras make a couple for all life long.
- Zebras milk is pink;
- after half an hour after birth baby-Zebra is able to walk by itself.
That's all I want to tell you about Zebra today.
Let your Life be just one big white stripe :)
I hope you enjoy,
see you!

This is the most amazing part of the article in my opinion. How we cant even tell the difference between 2 zebras yet they can. Puts perspective into how crazy evolution is.
You are right, Its amazing that they can recognize each other!
