Kingfishers usually live near water sources.
The kingfisher is a beautiful and attractive bird found in Southeast Asia. It is known for its brightly colored plumage and loud call.
This bird is distinguished by its unique color combination. Its main body features include the following:
Back and wings: Its back, wings, and tail are bright blue and turquoise, shining like metal in the sunlight.
Head and belly: Its head, lower neck, and belly are dark brown (chocolate brown).
Throat and chest: Its most distinctive feature is its snow-white chest and throat, which earns it the name "White-throated."
Kingfishers typically live near water sources, but the White-breasted Kingfisher can stay farther away from water than other species. It can be found near ponds, lakes, and rivers, as well as perched on power lines or dry tree branches in fields, gardens, forest edges, and even urban areas. Its call is quite loud and shrill, which can be heard as a chirping sound of "kill-kill-kill." Although it is a kingfisher, its diet is not limited to fish. It is a skilled hunter, preying on insects, earthworms, scorpions, frogs, lizards, mice, and small birds. It perches on a high perch, watching for its prey, and then pounces swiftly upon the opportunity.
