Poisonous Caterpillar?

The kids and I saw one of these on our walk and I showed the pic to my wife. Then my mother sends me an article how these caterpillars if you touch them they secrete a substance that has the same effect as poison ivy? Never heard of that before, but I guess it’s believable. None of touched so we I can not attest to how accurate the article was at this time!
