Linville Gorge and Falls in North Carolina, USA
We got lots of great exercise on our hike yesterday and enjoyed yet another great waterfall!
Also you can see the gorge that this river carved thousands of years ago.
We are enjoying breathing in the sweet and pure mountain air here!
Have A Blessed Day!

@violetmed,
Beautiful photos. They made me want to go fishing ... and pan for gold!
The rocks in the gorge tell a story hundreds of millions of years old, as does the river that carved it ... Nature never fails to amaze. I grew up on a horse farm in Nova Scotia and we had a river that flowed through our property. That first picture triggered a hundred memories. We used to go swimming beneath a similar-looking waterfall and our German Sheppard would invariably try to save us from drowning. Of course, those dog-paddling paws with claws were like an advancing meat grinder so we'd have to flee from salvation lest we be reduced to ground hamburger. :-)
Thanks for sharing.

@quillfire, that sounds like a great time maybe minus the dog trying to save you! :) Yes, I would love to go fishing there also! Apparently there are gem stones mined in some mountains in North Carolina near here. Haha, not sure about gold.
@violetmed,
Gold, gems, a trout with tartar sauce ... you take what you can get. :-)

Wow. Gorgeous hike @violetmed and nice touch with the flowers to end your post :)
That looks like a pretty spot. Is there a lot of sedimentary rock there? The layers of sedimentary rock are pretty in the photos near the falls. I wonder if it would be a good place to find fossils...
