A little bit of NBA History
Some interesting things happened on this day in NBA history.
On Oct. 23rd 1987 in the opening game of the 1st McDonald's Championship, the Milwaukee Bucks defeated Tracer Milan 123-111 at the Milwaukee Arena.
The Bucks were led by Paul Pressey, Jack Sikma and Terry Cummings while Milan was led by former NBA MVP and 3 time scoring Champ Bob McAdoo(Braves,Knicks,Celtics,Lakers...)
and 2 other former NBA players, Rickey Brown(Warriors, Hawks), Mike D'Antoni(Spurs).
Six years later on Oct. 23rd 1993, the 6th McDonald's Championship Finals game was held at the Olympiahalle in Munich, Germany. The Phoenix Suns defeated Buckler Bologna, 112-90, and were led by Charles Barkley who had 28 pts. Charles Barkley also won the Drazen Petrovic Trophy as MVP of the Tournament, after scoring 52 pts. in 2 games. His teammates
at the time were Kevin Johnson, AC Green and Danny Majerle.
On the same date this time in the year 2012, the NBA announces that the Center position will be removed from the All-Star ballot in favor of three "undefined" frontcourt players.
Some Birthdays on this day :
Keith van Horn, former forward(NJ Nets) born 1975 in Fullerton, CA.
This date is also significant for Keith van Horn, not just his because of his birthday, but also the date on which he was waived by the NJ Nets in 2008 and that's when he retired from the NBA.
