{Needlework Monday} Cats + crochet = catastrochetphe?
I like to take "glamour shots" of my work. This means making the effort to move the work into decent lighting, arranging it into a form that best shows it off (often requiring delicate origami-like folds) and actually turning my phone so that it's in landscape mode. The things I do for a good shot!
But I have a nemesis. A furry nemesis who has a radar for an unmanned wip.
Watcha gonna do about it hooman?
Does anyone else have this problem?
The wip in question is a shawl that I originally put in the "It looks hard, I'll make it when I'm good enough" basket. It turns out it's really quite easy to make, but just requires a bit of gung-hoedness to begin.
I'm finding that with lots of crochet... the most complex patterns are just different arrangements of basic stitches. So the stitches are the alphabet and the crochet is the poetry.. or maybe I've had my glass of wine too quickly this evening!
You want a glamour close-up sans cat? Shawl thing! (look, I resisted the puns until now! I'm learning! I'll leaf you with that thought)
Pattern: Liula shawl
Yarn: Scheepjes Whirl in Mid Morning Mocha'roo
Hook: 4 mm
This post is proudly part of the #needleworkmonday project!
HALPING, hooman, halping.
Love, Maggie 😁
Oops, sorry Maggie, I now see the error of my ways and realise I should be thanking my furry little overlord when she sits on my work! XD
lol, pretty kitty. A cat knows these things. What's cozier than knitting?
@luthvarian I tell her she's cosier but she didn't appreciate it when I snuggle her too much.. :D
Kitty can't help it if wool is comfortable to sleep on, and you did just kind of leave it lying around XD
Love your portmanteau (I think that still classes as a portmanteau?) XD
@ryivhnn I'm sure that's exactly what she was thinking! (If I fits, I sits)
Haha, yes I think I took the portmanteau to its limits and possibly broke it. Which would make it a portman-no, or maybe a portmanfaux pas :D :D :D (sorry)
Haha. Misty is so funny. Love the crochet work!
She is one sassy cat considering that she relies on me for food!
Really like the colourwork @wendles !
We have a couple of unruly puppies who love investigating so everything is currently at higher level, but I know they will find ways...
@cryptocariad Thanks :) The colour blending comes about naturally from the yarn itself, which really helps seeing as I get hopelessly stuck when choosing colours that are meant to harmonise (even with all the resources on the internet these days... I swear it's because of too much choice!).
And oh yes, your puppies will find ways to get into things you don't want them to get into. They teach it at puppy school!
LOL!!! 😂 Oh my goodness this post was so cute and funny! That look on your cat’s face is priceless and it does look like he/she was asking that question.
Your shawl looks really nice! I love the colors in the yarn and the diamond shaped stitches! I’m like you when it comes to wanting good pictures and good lighting ;) Thank you for sharing with us today!
Thanks @crosheille :) my inner magazine editor comes out when it comes to photographing crochet (but strangely not my kids..)
Absolutely! Lol that’s so funny!!!
Cute cat! Mine also love participating in my WIPs. Love the scarf colors as well.
Thanks @jamethiel, blue and brown are so beautiful together, I can never resist :)
Edward Lear, author of \The Owl and the Pussycat\"", is said to have had his new house in San Remo built to exactly the same specification as his previous residence, so that his much-loved tabby, Foss, would immediately feel at home."""
I know you're a bot, but this cat fact is adorable <3 <3 <3
Hi @wendles! I see that you, too, have a lovely assistant! Mine will only sit on the most expensive of items. I swear I can hear her saying, "Was this expensive?" as she firmly plants herself on my investments! I love the color you have chosen for this project and yes, it looks hard! Happy #NeedlworkMonday to you, my dear. Resteeming!
Awww thanks @crystalize :) I wonder if that's what mine is thinking because this really is my most expensive yarn! Then again she's pretty indiscriminate. As long as it's a WIP, she will sit!
I think they know how much things cost!
