studying is an obligation for every man and woman, here is a hadith that advocates studying:

                  ﻃَﻠَﺐُ ﺍﻟْﻌِﻠْﻢِ ﻓَﺮِﻳْﻀَﺔٌ ﻋَﻠَﻰ ﻛُﻞِّ ﻣُﺴْﻠِﻢٍ ﻭَﻣُﺴْﻠِﻤَﺔٍ

Meaning: "Seeking that knowledge is obligatory for every Muslim male and female Muslim". (Ibnu Abdil Barr)
