ACHIEVEMENT NO.3 BY abidafridi11 TASK: CONTENT ETIQUETTE
Hello Everyone, i hope my this topic finds you well.
In this task, I learned about content etiquette and plagiarism on Steemit. I understood that we should always create original content and give proper credit to sources. Copying others’ work without permission is not allowed. Citations are important to respect and acknowledge the original author.
What is Plagiarism?*
Plagiarism is using someone else’s work, ideas, words, or data as your own without giving them credit. Basically, passing off someone else’s effort as your own.
Common Types of Plagiarism*
1. Direct Plagiarism
Copying text word-for-word from a source without quotation marks or citation.
Example: Copying a paragraph from a website and submitting it as your own.
2. Self-Plagiarism
Reusing your own previous work and submitting it as new.
Example: Turning in the same essay for two different classes.
3. Paraphrasing Plagiarism
Rewriting someone else’s words but keeping the same idea and structure, without citing the source.
Example: Changing a few words but keeping the original meaning.
4. Mosaic / Patchwork Plagiarism
Taking phrases, sentences, or ideas from multiple sources and stitching them together without proper citation.
5. Accidental Plagiarism
Forgetting to cite sources, using incorrect citations, or misquoting by mistake. Even if unintentional, it’s still plagiarism.
6. Source-Based Plagiarism
Citing fake sources, or misrepresenting what the source actually says.
Rule to avoid Plagiarism:
. When in doubt, cite it._
. Always add quotation marks for exact words and give credit for ideas that aren’t yours.
. Ask permission when using someone’s images, videos, or creative work.
. Give full credit to the original creator, not just a general source like "Wikipedia" — link to the exact page.
