The Diary Game: A Day Sewn Together with Little Moments (19/08/2026)

I woke up in the wee hours of the day and began my morning with my quiet time. I opened my Bible and read through Isaiah chapters one to three. The passages gave me quite a number of things to reflect on, especially the importance of genuine repentance, obedience, and having a sincere relationship with God. One thing that particularly caught my attention was how God was more concerned about the condition of His people's hearts and their actions than their outward religious activities. It reminded me that it is not enough to simply appear devoted; our lives should also reflect the values we profess. It was a refreshing way to begin my day, and I spent some time reflecting on the lessons from the study.

After my quiet time, I attended to some house chores. There were a few things that needed to be put in order, so I got myself busy with them. It was one of those ordinary moments where you simply move from one task to another without making a big deal out of it. By the time I was done, I had already spent a good part of the morning taking care of things around the house.

Later in the day, I went out to attend to some things. While I was away, I remembered that it would be nice to have some bread at home. So, on my way back in the evening, I stopped to get a loaf of Yale bread. The bread can be seen in the picture, and I was glad I got it because I knew it would come in handy.

When I eventually got back home, I remembered the yams I received as a gift from my Place of Primary Assignment (PPA), where I currently serve as a corps member here in Benue State. Receiving those fresh yams was such a pleasant surprise, and it made me appreciate the kindness behind the gesture. Since I already had some stew at home, I decided to put one of the yams to good use.

I peeled and cut the yam into pieces and fried it. I then served it with the stew I already had. That became my dinner for the day. It was a simple meal, but I enjoyed it, especially knowing that the yam was a gift I had received just the previous day.

Looking back, my day was quite simple but fulfilling. From spending time with God in the morning, doing my chores, going out, and returning home with bread, to finally enjoying the yam I was gifted, every part of the day had something to offer. Sometimes, the beauty of a day is found in these little moments.
