Dear Steemian friends, let's share an otherworldly experience with you today. This is a temporary market that sits on the road next to Senakalyan Bhaban, opposite Tongi Main Bazar in Gazipur. This bustling event runs every Sunday from 8 am to 5 pm. Animal lovers or meat lovers gather here. Once a week, a huge meeting of buyers and sellers takes place here, where people come from far and wide.

The budgie is a very popular hobby bird, originally belonging to the parrot species. They are very popular with bird lovers due to their playful nature, chirping sound and ability to quickly blend in with people. Children in particular are the happiest when raising these birds.
Their main feature is the variety of colors of their feathers. Most of the birds are bright yellow, which easily caught my eye even in the crowd of the market. Since budgies can be raised in very small spaces and with simple care, they are widely appreciated as a symbol of hobby in the city's balcony or drawing room. For those who want to start raising new birds, this budgie can be the most ideal choice.

A beautiful lovebird with a mixture of yellow and orange colors is seen in the cage. They are known worldwide for their tendency to stay in pairs and brightly colored feathers. They are generally very social and intelligent birds.
birds with gray bodies and red beaks seen in the cage on the upper right are Java Sparrows. Their feathers are very smooth and their calls are very sweet. Their cleanliness and calm nature are highly appreciated by bird enthusiasts.
The small gray birds in the cage on the middle left are mainly Diamond Doves. They get their name from the small white dots or diamond-shaped spots on their wings. They are a small species of dove with a very calm nature.
The other cages in the middle are white finches and green-yellow budgerigars. Finches are very small in size and are always fidgety. On the other hand, budgies are the best-selling birds in the market due to their beautiful color variety and ease of handling.

The bird I see in my cage with a crest on its head is a cockatiel. They have round red or orange spots on their cheeks, which look a lot like makeup. They are very valuable to hobbyists because they can imitate talking or whistling. They are very beautiful and are the most popular and expensive of all birds.

A large number of quail birds are seen in the market. Although they are small in size, their eggs and meat are very nutritious. Since they can be kept in a very small space and at low cost, sellers bring hundreds of quail birds to the market in small cages. Especially their brown spotted feathers make them different from other birds. And some are kept at home because they can be kept very easily on the balcony of the house.

This market has a wonderful collection of different breeds of pigeons. Such as white, black, gray and the impressive purple-green shiny feather mixture pigeons. Pigeon keeping is an ancient hobby of Bengalis and they are appreciated by everyone as a calm natured bird. They are usually kept on the roof. Among the pigeons that came to this market, the Giribaj pigeon was one of them, which is known to be able to fly in the sky for a long time. Also, Gola, Siraji and various hybrid pigeons attract buyers. Their quiet chatter brings a different kind of tranquility to the atmosphere of the market. Amateur fanciers come to the market from far and wide to collect such healthy and beautiful pigeons.

The beautiful long-necked swans add elegance to the market. These white and grey ducks usually like to stay in groups. The sight of ducks roaming the water bodies of rural Bengal is a very familiar sight to us, and in this market, we can see all the healthy native ducks and swans. Nowadays, duck meat is extremely popular and delicious, so the demand for it among the general public is very high.

The large black and gray bird is the turkey. Their body structure is quite large and the neck part is reddish in color. Turkey is currently quite popular in Bangladesh for meat. Food lovers who come to the market especially look for large and healthy turkeys. In addition, there is a high demand for local chicken and there is even a large amount in the market.

As soon as you enter the market, the chirping of birds and the shouting of people create a different atmosphere. In my photos, you can see how beautifully the birds have been arranged in small cages. Especially the crowd of quails and small chickens was worth seeing. For those who like to keep birds on the roof or balcony of their houses, this Sunday market in Tongi can be the best destination. Because here, they bring their own domestic ducks, chickens, pigeons, etc. from the village. The prices are very reasonable, but you have to bargain and buy.
I hope you liked my travel and information. Thank you!
