Achievement 2 @qasim-ummati Task : Basic Security on Steem

Security is one of the most important responsibilities of every Steem user because our accounts hold real value. In this Achievement 2 task I will share my understanding of Steem account security the different keys wallet usage and how I plan to keep my account safe.

After carefully learning about Steem security and understanding how the Steemit wallet works I now feel more confident managing my account securely.

Question 1: Have you retrieved all your keys on Steemit?

Answer:
Yes I have retrieved all my keys by securing my master password. I understand that all my keys are generated from the master password so keeping it safe is very important.

Question 2: Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions?

Answer:
Yes each Steem key has a specific function and restriction:

• Posting Key
  This key allows posting commenting editing voting resteeming and following or muting accounts. It is used for everyday logins and regular activities.

• Active Key
  This key is used for sensitive actions such as transferring funds powering up or down converting Steem Dollars voting for witnesses updating profile details and placing market orders.

• Owner Key
  This is the most powerful key. It is mainly used for recovering compromise account or changing other keys. It should stord offline in used only the absolutely necessary.

• Memo Key
  This key is used to encrypt and decryt memos when transfrring funds. To encript a memo the pound sign (#) must be used before to memo.

Question 3: How do you plan to keep your master password?

Answer:
My master password will be saved somewhere safe and offline. I plan to store it on an external flash drive and also keep a written copy on paper. For the best security and redundancy using a safe deposit box is recommended. I will never share my master passward with anyone too use for daily logins.

Question 4: Do you know how to transfer your STEEM token to another Steem user account?

Answer:
Yes I have learne the prociss. The steps are:

1. Open my Steemit wallet
2. Click on Transfer STEEM
3. Enter the recipient’s username
4. Enter the amount of STEEM
5. Confirm the transaction using the Active Key

Question 5: Do you know how to power up your STEEM?

Answer:
Yes I know how to power up STEEM usses the Active Key. The steps are:

1. Open the Stemit wallet
2. Click on the dropdown botton
3. Select Power Up
4. Enter the amount to STEEM
5. Apply the Active Key to confirm
