Introduction

I am a 60 year old lady from Lahore, the capital of Punjab, Pakistan. People call me Rafat, and I am a life-loving person at heart. I am the 4th one, among my 8 siblings. I was brought and bread in Lahore, Pakistan. I have done double masters degrees, one of them in History, and the other one in Urdu Literature.

I belong to an Urdu Speaking family, as both my parents and maternal grandparents were immigrants from Muradabad and Delhi who moved to this side of the border during the 1947 Indo-Pak Partition.

My Father was a graduate from Aligarh University, India. From the very beginning, we were naturally invested in education, learning about language, literature, culture, science and arts– all of which helped me and my siblings shape our lives.

I have worked at government school (now retired) as a teacher, taking middle to senior school classes and now that I have got some time on my hands, I am pursuing my passion for cooking and home decoration.

I am a mother to a 24 year old daughter, her name is Maria. She has completed her B. Architecture program and is now working as a Set designer as well as a freelance architecture designer.

Both of us are very fond of food, jewellery, clothing, styling, home styling and décor. Cooking is my passion, as I love cooking meals for my loved ones and always trying out new recipes of mine.

I would love to share my lifestyle and cooking experiences, including recipes, on Steem.it, so more and more people can try out the authentic cusines that are an important part of the culture of Subcontinent, as passed down from my grandmother, to my mother, and now I'll be the one sharing my family recipes with all of my dear followers.
