This is mentality I believe, that is the root cause of episodes like mass shootings. An individual wakes one morning and experiences a moment of pristine logic within which they realize they have spent their entire life believing that capital punishment is morally reprehensible whilst simultaneously believing that killings unborn children is taking the moral high road.
The mind snaps, and the shooting begins...
