List of Some Important Terms Related to Cryptocurrencies Every Crypto Enthusiast or Investor Should Know
DApp (Decentralized Application): An application that runs on a decentralized network of computers rather than a single server. DApps often utilize smart contracts for functionality.
Blockchain:A decentralized, distributed ledger that records all transactions across a network of computers. It is the underlying technology of most cryptocurrencies.
Cryptocurrency:-Digital or virtual currencies that use cryptography for security. Bitcoin ($ BTC ), Ethereum ($ETH), and Litecoin ($LTC) are examples of cryptocurrencies.
Wallet:A software or hardware tool that allows users to store, send, and receive cryptocurrencies. Wallets have public and private keys for security.
Public Key/Private Key:A public key is a unique address where cryptocurrency can be sent, while the private key is a secret code that allows access to the funds associated with the public key.
Altcoin:Any cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin.
Examples include Ethereum, Ripple, and Litecoin.
ICO (Initial Coin Offering): A fundraising method where new cryptocurrencies are sold to investors. It's a way for startups to raise capital by issuing a new cryptocurrency.
Fork:A change in the underlying protocol of a blockchain, resulting in two different versions (chains) with separate transaction histories.
Forks can be soft or hard.
Token:A unit of value created on a blockchain as part of a decentralized application (DApp).
Tokens can represent assets, access rights, or voting power.
Smart Contract:Self-executing contracts with the terms written into code. They automatically execute and enforce the terms when predefined conditions are met.
Decentralization:The distribution of control and decision-making across a network of computers or nodes. It's a key feature of blockchain technology.
