A matchbox, please! (Purchasing power in Venezuela)
In Venezuela, it is still common to find these good bundles of 100 and 50 bolivars bills.
If we are going to buy a small box of matches, the clerk will tell us:
- Friend, you only have 20,000.00 bolivars. You need 30,000.00 to complete the payment.
That is to say, a simple box of matches, costs us almost 4 days of minimum wage, to those of us who are pensioners and do not have food vouchers.
For those who read me and are not from Venezuela, it is necessary to inform them that the monthly income of a non-professional worker (for example, dependent on supplies, supermarkets, bakeries, butcher shops, etc.) is:
Basic monthly salary from March 2018: 393,000.00 Bs. (Rounded and without the corresponding deductions)
More monthly food bonus: 915,000.00 Bs.
A monthly income of 1,308,000.00 Bs. That is = 2.00 US$ (price 25 April 2018)
Now, the prices of some foods of the basic diet:
1 kilo (2 pounds) of meat or chicken or pork: Bs. 1,700,000.00 (almost 3 US$).
1 kilo (2 pounds) fresh white cheese: Bs. 1,400,000.00 (just over 2 US$)
1 kilo of milk powder: Bs. 2,300,000.00 (almost 4 US$)
1 kilo rice: Bs. 780,000.00 (more than 1 US$)
1 kilo ham: Bs. 1,800,000.00 (3 US$)
1 liter vegetable oil: Bs. 1,300,000.00 (2 US$)
1/2 kilo coffee: Bs. 975,000.00 (almost 1.5 US$)
Shampoo, toilet paper, feminine towels, toothpaste, soap ...: from 1 dollar and more, each one.
So:
Can you imagine how you can buy these foods, earning only 2 or 3 dollars a month?
The answer is simple:
The majority of the population, is not consuming this type of food, in the amount required to maintain proper health
And the use of products of personal and cosmetic cleaning, is relegated, reaching the point of improvising with substance or alternative materials.
I have seen how a couple bought 100 grams of ground meat, cheese, or some sausage, 4 eggs, etc, with a salary of 15 days.
Retired people, we have a social security pension of:
"Update 14.03.18: The amount to be charged will be: economic war bond 157,058.58 bolivars and the pension Bs. 392,646.46 total 549,705.04 bolivars."
Fuente
Social security with less than 1 dollar?
Comfortable and healthy old age?
Children nourished and happy?
Happy teenagers?
Men and women wearing away their physical strength, for what?
And the government insists on saying that "... the fault lies with the cow ..."; aaah no, sorry! ... insist "that the fault is Trump"
This is unbearable!
I apologize if this information is very brief. I only wrote with pain and impotence. As a mother, sister, wife, friend.
So they know more, a little of what happens here.
Because Steemit can not be a bubble of indifference.
Thank you for reading.
Unusual news for: @armonia
I am truly sorry for your hardship.
Why do so many people pretend that governments can fix everything? Where is Sean Penn when you need him?
Up Voted and resteemed.
Well, the people put their trust in the government, to administer the resources for the benefit of all ... but here, theories collapse.
This government ought to fix many things, because they have a monopoly on everything.
Regarding Sean Penn, he came a few years ago, to delve into marginality, but ended up walking with Chávez, who convinced him that in Venezuela, the poor are happier than in other countries.
Thank you very much for your visit and support, @willncc.
Creo que los billete de monopolio tiene mas valor, sabe cuanto cuesta un juego de mesa como ese jajajaja, carisimo... en medio de tantas cosas solo queda un momento de risa, así somo los venezolanos jajaja, saludos.
Seguro, amiga @edurley. A veces canto pa' no llorar:
Gracias por tu gentil visita. Que estés bien, disfrutando una linda tarde maracuchense.
That is a very hard way to live; perhaps this is the way in which blockchain technology and communities like Steemit can help people in countries with hyperinflation.
My upvote is small, but I share it happily!
=^..^=
Thank you very much for your kind visit, friend. @curatorcat.
The important thing is to spread the situation in Venezuela.
Many families do not have Internet, not even a computer or a cell phone ... they can not access Steemit.
Your heart is great.
I wish you enjoy a happy afternoon.
This is heart rending!
Although some people find it hard to buy certain basic needs here in Nigeria, the situation in Venezuela is is quite gross.
I wish you a better earning experience on Steemit to make more income.
Thank you very much, @starl.
We know that in many countries there are difficult situations, due to poverty, natural phenomena or wars;
but in Venezuela this crisis is not justified, because:
_"The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela currently has the largest oil reserve in the world, which, according to its energy minister, amounts to more than 297 billion barrels _..."
Here
The really bad thing is to have inefficient and autocratic governments with the name of socialism.
Grateful for your kind visit, I wish you well-being.
