Isn't it strange how the media seems to be slightly disappointed that Trump actually wants to meet him and has accepted the offer? After celebrating NK's cheerleaders and god knows what else as of late, Trump has caught them all off guard and denied them the chance of seizing the moral high ground. It raises several questions

It will be interesting to see how China will react. They may be fearful deep down that Trump can seduce Kim to switch allegiances and work together towards progress without them. Also, will the talks really be Trump's Nixon and Mao moment? Regardless of one's opinion about Donald Trump, these talks are evidence that he is achieving something that no other Western leader has ever achieved before. Even if the overall result is negative; the fact will remain that he managed to talk to the North Koreans directly, unlike leaders who went before him.

As for the result, we aren't really clear about what side is trying to achieve exactly apart from avoiding nuclear war. That will most likely be avoided, but will it lead to the North Koreans temporarily suspending weapons testing for increased aid as usual, or it will it lead to a resumption of normal friendly diplomatic relations and an opening up of North Korea like such talks once did for China? One shouldn't feel too hopeful about either of those outcomes.
