It could also be they don't want more people killed due to trampling. There have been so many deaths in the past from trample. Soccer arenas are known for that issue in the past.
come on man seriously though that seems a little out of place for a explosion. there would be absolute chaos. and peoplewould need to get out of there in a hurry.
