I don't think so. I think the monarchy themselves these days are puppets that don't really have any power other than the symbolism - nobody takes them seriously in the UK. That's why it is so odd. The real monarchy are the mega corporations that have the power to buy governments. I think if it is genuine then perhaps he was trying to make some kind of subversive joke!
