Arrested Muslim women took off their hijabs and became rich
Authorities in the US city of New York will pay $ 60,000 in compensation to three Muslim women, whom the police forced to remove the hijabs. This is reported by The New York Times.
Three girls (their names are not called) filed complaints to the court at different times after they were forced to take off their headdresses in front of the men to take photos in the department.
The lawyer of the victims A. Tahani Abushov (Tahanie A. Aboushi) told the publication that the later Muslim women from all three charges were dismissed. According to her, in the police department of New York there are no precise instructions how to act when detaining girls in hijabs. "Some people take pictures in handkerchiefs, others are forced to shoot them," she said.
It is noted that all the girls were taken to the department due to various offenses. So, one of them quarreled with a neighbor because of the parking space. The second was detained on suspicion of sexual harassment. About the third girl the edition does not inform. It is only known that after she took off her handkerchief in the presence of the guards of order, they began to release comments regarding her hair and laugh.
In January last year it was reported that in the American army, women were allowed to wear hijabs. According to US Army Secretary Eric Fanning, the new rules should help attract Sikhs and Muslims to the army. It was noted that the color of the headdresses should not differ from the color of the uniform, and the turban and hijab should be sewn from fireproof fabric.
