More visitors, more jobs: Bilbao has flourished since the Guggenheim Museum was opened. A study is now examining whether a building can really change an entire city.

Frank Gehry later said,"Since Bilbao, people have been coming into my office to hire me to create the Bilbao effect." Since then, the question has always been: Is this possible?
A team from the Chair of Spatial Development at the TU Munich is now conducting interdisciplinary research together with HafenCity University Hamburg and the TU Berlin into the effects of publicly funded star architecture in medium-sized cities over a longer period of time.

Bilbao hat sich völlig neu aufgestellt, eine ehemalige Industriestadt ist zum Kulturzentrum geworden.
Frank Gehry sagte später:"Seit Bilbao kommen Leute in mein Büro, um mich für den Bilbao-Effekt zu engagieren." Seitdem lautet die Frage: Ist das möglich?
Ein Team des Lehrstuhls für Raumentwicklung an der TU München erforscht nun gemeinsam mit der HafenCity Universität Hamburg und der TU Berlin interdisziplinär über einen längeren Zeitraum die Auswirkungen der öffentlich geförderten Sternarchitektur in mittelgroßen Städten.
How many cities can be created like Bilbao? How many flourishing cities? Do we really only need a good architect? I do not think so, I think we are all good architects who create beautiful cities.
