France Reminds Threat War due to US Attitude towards Iran
Frenchman Jean-Yves Le Drian on Wednesday warned that the United States' strong stance against Iran fueled 'high tensions' and threatened to ignite war in the region.
"We are at a severe faltering, everything is met with a burning attitude," Le Drian said.
The French diplomat said in an interview with French Inter radio that Washington's stance risks further harming the region.
Earlier this week, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo threatened to impose the heaviest sanctions in history on Iran if it refused to curb its ballistic missile program and its influence in the region.
Le Drian said, "We disagree with that way because this set of sanctions, which will be imposed on Iran, will not allow dialogue to occur and, on the contrary, will strengthen conservatives and weaken President (Hassan) Rouhani."
"(The imposition) of these sanctions is unacceptable We can not allow these sanctions to be legitimate," he added.
