USS Laboon destroyer (DDG 58) launched Tomahawk cruise missiles

Russia will build a new electronic warning system (pernika) or jammer to fight cruise missiles after collecting data from two US-made Tomahawk missiles seized from unexploded in air strikes in Syria, according to the Sputnik website.

The US-led coalition has launched a missile strike on sites suspected of producing chemical weapons in Syria earlier this year. Some of the missiles managed to reach their targets, while others failed to explode.

The Russian military claims to have acquired two seized missiles from their Syrian allies and is studying the missiles and developing an electronic warfare system designed to intercept these missiles.

"On the basis of this experience, technical tasks for a new job are being prepared. They will consider all the information obtained to help us build a new prototype jammer system ", according to Vladimir Mikheev, adviser to Russia's deputy director of KRET.

Mikheev added that by acquiring the missile, Russia could clearly understand what its communication channel, information and control, navigation and missile range.
