Prime Minister's meeting with the Pope

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina meets Holly Siey (Vatican City) on Monday with Catholic cleric Pope Francis of the world.

Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said the Prime Minister on Vatican City visited the Pope this morning and met him at the Vatican City, near the Italian capital, Rome. "The Prime Minister was given a guard of honor after reaching Vatican City at 10am. Later, the Prime Minister held a meeting with the Pope in Vatican City at his office. After the meeting, the Prime Minister introduced his tourists to the Pope. He gave Pope a painting on the natural beauty of Bangladesh. The Pope later presented a crest to Sheikh Hasina. Pope also presented souvenir gifts to the Prime Minister's tourists.

The meeting was held after meeting with the Prime Minister during a visit to Dhaka two months before Pope Pope, the top religious leader of the Catholic community. In the meeting of the Pope, the Pope calls on Rohingya to pressurize Myanmar to solve the crisis and to withdraw from the violence and take back the country with the dignity of the Rohingya. Pope Francis visited Bangladesh on 31 November to 2 December, two months before Sheikh Hasina's invitation. Sheikh Hasina also held a meeting with Secretary State of Vatican City Cardinal Pittor Peroline in Vatican City and visited Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica.

The Sistine Chapel Vatican City Catholic priest Gopal Pope's administrative residence is the place for prayer for the Apostolic Palace. St. Peter's Basilica, on the other hand, is an Italian Renaissance church in Vatican City, a unique example of the Renaissance architecture. It is the largest church in the world. Famous architects of the Renaissance era, Donato Bramante, designed the famous sculptors and painters Michael Angelo, architects Carlo Mordano and Jian Lorenzo Bernini.

David Bieesley, Executive Director of World Food Program, will meet with the Prime Minister at his hotel this evening evening. Sheikh Hasina arrives Sunday evening on a four-day official visit to Italy and Vatican City. He will join the annual session of the 41st Board of Directors of International Agricultural Development Fund (EFD) on Tuesday morning. He will present the keynote paper in the opening session of the conference.
