Cryptomatoes: Tomatoes that take advantage of the heat emitted by cryptocurrency mining
In recent years, many critics have raised against the mining of crypto-currencies, considered too greedy in energy. In an attempt to provide an answer and limit energy waste, some entrepreneurs have decided to take advantage of the heat emitted by this activity.
This is the case of Kamil Brejcha, the founder of the platform Nakamoto X, who uses it to grow tomatoes.

Last Saturday Kamil Brejcha , co-founder of the exchange platform Nakamoto X , unveiled a photo showing a greenhouse tomatoes.
His particuliarity ? It uses the heat generated by its mining devices of crypto-currencies .
Indeed, mining rigs - and more generally, computer servers - emit high levels of heat. And many miners have already had the idea to use this energy, as these two Siberian entrepreneurs , who began last year to use it to heat homes.
On Twitter, Kamil Brejcha welcomed the imminent arrival of his first "crypto-harvest":
" Who could have imagined that cryptocurrency mining and agriculture could work together? We are ready to make the first harvest of 'cryptomatoes'. We use the excessive heat we emit to heat our tomato greenhouse, and it works. "

He said his team had developed a system called " Container ", located in basement. It is he who allows them to recover the heat emitted by his computer equipment, in order to distribute them in the greenhouse.
Container CryptomatoesThe "Cointainer" is located in the basement, and the heat released by the mining is diffused through the greenhouse.
And specify that the operation of mining did not require any expenditure electricity :
"On the other hand, we produce our own energy. The mining operations are powered by 100% energy produced by biowaste. We therefore rely on a completely closed energy circuit ".
Mr. Brejcha said he was currently a project " discreet ", which should be the starting point for the creation of a " startup blockchain 'agritech' " which offer particular vertical gardens. He also revealed the size of this greenhouse, about 2 hectares, adding that his tomatoes should soon be offered to retailers.
One visitor asked why his teams had not turned to more lucrative plantations, such as cannabis: " Unfortunately, due to strict local rules, we did not manage to get a license to plant the seeds. therapeutic cannabis. That's why we turned to tomatoes and other vegetables , "he said.
