SUKA MAKMUE - Tiger handler from Meulaboh, West Aceh, Sarwani Sabi aka Kek Carwani leads a prayer in the procession of the Sumatran tiger eviction ritual with the people in the Gunong Baneng area, Alue Rambot Village, Darul Makmur District, Saturday (9/22). The ritual of expulsion of tigers aims to dispel the tigers to get away from the residents' settlements and no longer disturb the local community.

Based on video recordings and citizen reports, we have checked with a special team to the field for handling the tigers, including lowering the tiger handler, Kek Carwani. The BKSDA team, which took to the field three people, consisted of Meulaboh RKW officers, two WCS and eight local residents, explained the Head of the Aceh BKSDA, Sabto Aji Prabowo, who was confirmed by Serambi on Sunday (9/23).

According to him, the video was the result of the recording of Nasir and Mustafa, Alue Rambot residents who were trapped when confronted by four tigers in the Gunong Baneng area four days ago.

He added, the BKSDA team that had come down to the location did not find the traces of the tiger. The team also did not find any snares or traps installed by the community. Related to this, the officials concluded that the tiger only passed and happened to be in a raid with residents driving a Colt Diesel car on the road to the new land clearing area.

So far there is no information about the conflict between humans and animals protected in the area. There were also no reports that the tigers were eating cattle or causing other disturbances, explained Sabto Aji Probowo.
