Happy National Flag of Canada Day everyone! Today marks the 55th anniversary of the Canadian flag. Let’s celebrate by presenting to you some trivial facts.
- The Official flag title of the flag is called: National Flag of Canada.
- Canada’s flag is the only national flag in the world to present the maple leaf.
The maple leaf made its first appearance in the 1700s. It became a national symbol when it debuted on the coat of arms.
The red and white colours on the flag are the official colours of Canada. Proposed by King George V.
Subjectively, Canada’s flag is described as the most beautiful based on its basic design and duality of colours by flag experts.
There are 11 points on the maple leaf. Design-wise, the 11 points were intentionally chosen in a way for the flag to be seen in the windiest conditions.
- The Great Canadian Flag Debate. Dozens of designs of the flags were submitted in a contest to determine the national flag. At the end, it was narrowed down to 3 and our present maple leaf design was chosen.
