In my previous post, I talked about living adventurously. It can be a whole lot of fun but it can also be dangerous. The reward we seek in life generally goes hand in hand with the risk we take. I’m not at all suggesting that we should limit life’s adventures. Instead, as a professional risk manager, I will advise that we paint the full picture before making any decision. We must combine our natural ability, our instincts, with a structured and comprehensive method of thinking to properly manage life’s risks.

In this news article, we find out that a young girl tragically lost her life while exploring the world. Her mom, Chalene, said: “‘if she'd known about the distance to medical care, her daughter never would have gotten off the ship on that stop’”. The article goes on to say that: “to honor her daughter's love for travel, she wants to partner with Semester at Sea to make changes and give families more information to prepare and evaluate risk”.

You are doing the right thing Chalene.
