The owner of the rights to the word TWiT sued Twitter

in #news6 years ago

The founder of the show and platform for podcasts This Week in Tech (TWiT) Leo Laporte sued the Twitter microblogging service because of violation of the rights to use the trademark.

The TWiT site has existed since 2005. Before the launch of Twitter in 2006, co-founder Evan Williams suggested that Laporte agree on the joint use of brands.

Laporte and Wilms agreed that both projects can exist under their own names simultaneously, since they are used to distribute different types of content.

After that, TWiT's lawyers asked the company to clarify their actions, but the talks were unsuccessful. Now TWiT demands to forbid Twitter to use its brand for video projects and receive money from them.
